This also did not pass gas boilers, and now you can hardly find any other than electronic ones, only occasionally you can find a tank without control panels, circuit boards and electrodes. But even electronic technology may not work properly. In order to find out the reason for the malfunction of the boiler, you need to look at the special screen located on the front side of the tank. It will display an error code.
It is very interesting that in boilers of electronic type there are a lot of errors, each of them has its own reasons. Accordingly, each error must be corrected in its own way. In order to determine what error you encountered, you need to look at the designation in the special user manual that comes with the tank. In this article we will consider the solution to one of the most common Baxi boilers - error E01.

In the Baxi gas tank, error E01 belongs to the category of the most complex and critical, because of which the boiler cannot continue to work properly. If the error has been fixed by the user or a special service, before resetting the gas tank to the standard state, it is necessary to hold the R button on the special panel for two to three seconds, after which the tank will restart in standard mode and try to start.
Error correction E01
In a Baxi Main Four gas boiler, an E01 error usually indicates that the ignition system is not working. The single-circuit gas tank itself is equipped with a fourth-generation bithermic heat exchanger (this is the difference between it and a similar Baxi 24 boiler, with a white control panel). The principle of their work is similar, which means that the elimination of the same errors will be identical to each other. It is required to follow the general guidelines for their elimination, which will be given in the article below.
Baxi Eco Four 24F, Error E01
Eco Four 24F boilers have a turbocharged structure with an internal combustion chamber completely locked from the owner. Also, the letter F in the name of the boiler itself indicates the presence in the tank itself of the presence of a fan on the burning element. This helps to cool it during moments of severe overheating and increase its operating time. It differs from the boiler’s past only in that it has a second, more flexible and plate heat exchanger inside for domestic hot water. In this Baxi Eco Four boiler, the E01 error appears due to the built-in electronic control board, and they will be able to help with it in the warranty center, because there you will need full diagnostics and possible soldering. This error appears on the board so that the module responsible for ignition is located very close to the electronic control of the tank itself. Causes of error during operation of the boiler
In most situations, error E01 speaks only of a few of the reasons presented. The most common one is that there is no ignition in the burner inside, and a signal is sent to the main screen of the control panel directly from the sensor designed to control the flame. It is an ordinary electrode - a sensor that determines if there is a flame inside the tank, and, in a situation when it is not there, the boiler is blocked. An error also occurs regardless of whether the gas is not fully supplied or malfunctions in the combustion system. Below are the main reasons why the error E01 occurs in the Baxi tank.
- There is no gas supply to the tank, insufficient pressure inside it or a breakdown in the valve through which air is supplied.
- The power supply for the boiler was connected incorrectly, and the phases of this connection itself are violated (as a rule, all tanks are phase-dependent).
- The signal disappears from the control panel to which the ionizer is connected.
- Contamination or breakdown on the sensor panel for monitoring the flame inside the tank (the most common error).
- Damage to the control board.
- Lack of traction or clogging of the air supply pipe to the tank to ensure proper combustion.
The boiler control system gives out a refusal for proper operation only after three attempts to start the tank. After that, it will be necessary to dump the tank. To do this, press the R button (from the English Reset) on the control panel when the errors are resolved. The user can also try to check and eliminate some of the reasons that arise when the boiler breaks down, such as air entering the tank, malfunction due to contamination. The first reason. Gas supply failure
This problem can only be fixed by the warranty center, and under no circumstances is this done by the owner of the tank. For proper diagnosis, you will need a tool - a differential pressure gauge, which you just can’t buy anywhere else. It helps measure the pressure at the inlet and outlet of the gas supply valve. If there is a problem with it, the service will adjust and the tank will return to the owner.

The second reason. Problem in the Baxi Main gas valve, error E01
The gas valve itself is a device that is technically very difficult for an ordinary person to understand, and it is also controlled by applying voltage to an element called a “winding”. Using a special tool, the resistance of the gas coils inside the valve and the voltage on them are checked. Basically, when an error is detected in the operation of this element, it is completely replaced.
The third reason. No gas supply to the boiler
Error E01 in this case can occur due to the banal shutdown of gas through the main valve, which is located on the gas pipe, directly at home. This can happen either accidentally or intentionally, if some repair work is going on, so it makes no sense to worry in this case and you just need to restart the boiler using the R (Reset) key. An error may also occur due to a malfunction of the gas meter to which the boiler is connected.
The fourth reason. Violation of power supply to the boiler
All Baxi boilers are very dependent on the correct electrical connection. Trite turning the plug in order to swap the zero and phase in places can solve the problem. But if this did not correct the situation, then you should check this very connection already on the connectors of the boiler board, because no one canceled the marriage during production. A very important point in the operation of an electric boiler is also such a thing as grounding. If the tank is not grounded, this can also cause malfunctioning of the heating elements and provoke the Baxi boiler to give an error E01.
The fifth reason. The problem inside the ionizer, the lack of a signal from its sensors
In Baxi tanks, the flame control sensor and the electrode, which is directly responsible for igniting the flame in the tank, are combined together, which causes problems. You can observe this by simply opening the boiler body and looking at whether current is flowing in order to create a spark or not. We also advise you to check if there are any visible breakdowns or breakdowns on the wires supplying the spark.
Reason six. Failure of internal flame monitoring sensor
The wire with which the spark is ignited also plays the role of a “controller” monitoring the flame. This is one of the main and most important functions in the entire boiler. It refers to the security system and, if there is no flame inside the tank, the gas stops flowing in to prevent an accident.
The principle of operation of this sensor is that it catches the flow of small currents flowing through a special electrode. The flame begins to burn only when a certain “gap” is created through which air begins to flow. In this case, if an E01 error occurs in Baxi, what should the tank owner do? It is necessary to check whether the intake of air inside the boiler is done correctly. This clearance should fully comply with all data from the special manual given with the tank in the kit. It is also forbidden to bend the electrode through which power is supplied. This can lead to its breakdown (it is very fragile) and to the closure of the tank, as well as further combustion of the boiler.
Reason seven. Insufficient amount of air required for the heating element
The most unlikely of the reasons, but also occurs. It is unlikely because the lack of air will be fixed by other devices that are responsible for this, and the error code will be completely different. A situation may also arise that the pressure switch (another element of the tank) will not respond to lack of air, and it will still be very small (if the pipeline is clogged). At this moment, the flame control electrode will detect the absence of this same flame and stop the operation of the boiler. Although it will be present inside the tank, it will have an irregular shape.
Reason eight. The boiler lights up, and then immediately goes out.
If during tank start-up it instantly shuts off, and the flame does not even have time to fully ignite, the problem again lies in the flame control electrode. He does not see the flame due to poor contact with the control board and because of this he turns off the boiler. The exact reason for the shutdown in this situation can be established only during the diagnostics of this board itself, and, therefore, it is necessary to contact specialists.
Reason nine. Error in the control panel (board)
If all past causes were excluded by you or the indicated malfunctions were eliminated, and the Baxi tank gives an error E01, you should contact a service center to diagnose the board itself. On this board are all the modules it needs, one of which may break, and everyone else will start screaming about error E01. From this it follows that the problem may lie, again, in the poor assembly method or in the poor parts supplied at the factory during the soldering of the main board itself.
