A major reconstruction is currently underway on one of the most important routes in the north of the capital. Dmitrovskoe highway needed fundamental modernization for a long time. But for various reasons, it was put off for an indefinite future. They took up it only in the spring of 2012.

The road going towards the ancient city of Dmitrov existed here as early as the fourteenth century. She had all the features characteristic of a country road. Only in the middle of the nineteenth century did it receive a hard coating. Throughout its entire length, a certain reconstruction was made. Dmitrovskoe highway ceased to be suburban already in the Soviet period of history. He was not only to become part of Moscow as one of the streets, but also to turn into a very significant part of the urban transport infrastructure. Today it is one of the most important highways of the northern direction. But gradually, its throughput ceased to correspond to the required level. Especially large traffic jams began to form here as they approached the Moscow Ring Road. Radically correct the situation on the highway could only reconstruction. Dmitrovskoye Shosse is not the only highway in Moscow that has come close to exhausting its resource. Similar problems in the capital exist in most areas. Therefore, the funds necessary for its modernization were found only by the beginning of 2012.

An effective technical solution that allows you to save the highway from traffic jams and congestion is the organization of a traffic-free traffic zone for the maximum possible extent of the route. Wherever possible. Equally important is the expansion of the roadway and the increase in the lane of movement. This is exactly what the reconstruction currently underway in the north of Moscow is aimed at. Dmitrovskoe highway already has a multi-level traffic intersection at the intersection with Koltsevaya. But as a result of many years of operation, it has ceased to meet modern requirements for throughput and traffic safety. Here, work is underway on the construction of a left-turn overpass on the inner side of the Moscow Ring Road, to which traffic flows from the region. In addition, a flyover is being built in the direct direction towards the city, providing a two-level intersection with two side passages. The reconstruction project of Dmitrovskoye Shosse includes the construction of a two-level interchange at the intersection with Dolgoprudnenskoye Shosse. The main course of this intersection has already been put into operation.

The time factor in the construction of engineering infrastructure is always important. Especially when it comes to one of the key highways of the northern part of the capital. But the attempt to complete the full amount of work on the project ahead of schedule was unsuccessful.
