Growing ducklings of mullards in a personal plot

Moulard ducks are a breed bred by crossing musky and domestic white Peking ducks. This hybrid is completely barren. True, females lay eggs, but not fertilized. This broiler variety is bred for meat and liver. Growing ducklings of this breed is not too difficult, as they usually have excellent health. In addition, this cross is very productive, and its meat has simply excellent taste. It is much more difficult, in fact, to breed ducklings.

The fact is that musk and Peking ducks differ greatly in the way they care. In addition, the structural features of the body of these two breeds often impede effective mating. Mullard ducklings are hatched in an incubator. In this case, the output depends on which particular male was used for mating. The most active individuals are best suited for this purpose. One drake should have no more than four ducks. Under these conditions, the yield can reach 80%. Sometimes artificial insemination is also used.

Successful rearing of ducklings of mullards is possible only if appropriate conditions are created in the room where they are kept. Before hatching the chicks, the shed must be carefully prepared. The floor is pre-sprinkled with lime at the rate of half a kilogram per square meter. Then arrange a litter layer of sunflower husk or sawdust. Its optimal thickness is 15 cm.

Subsequently, when keeping a bird, it will have to be updated from time to time.

Growing ducklings of this breed is not at all different from feeding any broiler. Hatched incubator chicks can eat on their own very poorly. Therefore, at first they need a little help. For this, each duckling is instilled with a weak solution of potassium permanganate (a couple of drops) in its beak and a crumbled egg yolk is poured onto a flat, uncontaminated surface. You can use ordinary plywood for this purpose.

Those wishing to breed this breed should know that growing ducklings has some features. The main thing is that the chicks should receive a lot of greenery. It can be started to be added to the mulard food as early as the third day, after being finely chopped. Further, when the kids grow up a little, they can be walked.

And although the presence of a reservoir for these ducks is considered optional, if a stream flows on the site or there is a pond, they should be used for walking young animals. In this case, you should know that in the water of incubator chicks you can run no earlier than when they have a good plumage.

A few days after the mullards try the first weed, you need to gradually start introducing other foods into the diet - crushed, boiled potatoes, whey, etc. Cross ducklings are grown up to 60 days of age. Further, juvenile molting sets in and growth stops, and therefore, continuing to feed them seems inappropriate. And it’s more difficult to process the carcasses of overexposed ducks, since in the third month of growth feather feathers begin to form. However, they completely lose their presentation.

Thus, subject to certain rules, simply excellent broiler ducklings can be fed. Growing them requires a certain amount of experience and patience, but it is not particularly difficult.
