History of becoming
The current flagship confectionery was created by the hands of a peasant in 1804. A small enterprise produced fruit-based sweets, for which the founder Stepan received the name Abrikosov. The workshop produced delicious candied fruits, marshmallows and marmalade. The small enterprise gradually expanded, the business began to be transferred to the next generation of the family. The technical and quality breakthrough was made by Alexey Abrikosov (Stepan's grandson) who took over the management and ownership of the enterprise in 1850. With its appearance, the production receives the first machines: machines for pressing Montpensier and grinding of almonds.
The first milestones of development
The competitive environment did not allow anyone to relax, and therefore further modernization was required, which was carried out by installing a steam engine. The company's turnover, number of employees, product quality and general scope of the enterprise transferred it to the status of a factory and made it one of the leaders in the industry. Tasty products of the factory “Partnership of A. I. Abrikosov and Sons” were known throughout Russia and abroad, and since 1899 the company has become a supplier of the imperial court.
In 1900, another reconstruction took place at the factory; before 1917, the Abrikosov factory had offices around the world. The revolutionary government nationalized the enterprise and gave it a new name - State Confectionery Factory No. 2.
Soviet period
Since 1922, the confectionery factory was renamed into the confectionery factory named after P. A. Babayev in honor of the head of the district executive committee Sokolnikov. Lightly battered by revolutionary storms, the restored and once again reconstructed plant continued its life with a new name. During these years, the factory produced Montpensier, several types of caramel, butterscotch.
During the Great Patriotic War, production had to be rebuilt for other needs, but even during this period sweets were produced: sweets for the front with alcohol and water with saccharin. A workshop for the production of concentrates was also equipped. The victory in the war brought the first automated chocolate production line to the Babaevskaya factory.
From this moment, a victorious procession of delicious chocolate began. The first automated line made it possible to produce chocolate products and determined the further development of the enterprise. Economic recovery and meeting the needs of the population grew, and therefore production required further efforts to introduce new technologies and devices. In 1950, the factory processed 2,000 tons of cocoa beans annually, and in the 60s the processing figure reached 9,000 tons.
At the turn of the 60s and 70s, a qualitative and quantitative modernization of chocolate production was made, and in 1972 the country's best chocolate production workshop was commissioned.
Sophisticated 90s
The factory experienced another difficult period during the perestroika times of the collapse of the USSR. The general centralized supply system for state enterprises was destroyed, the former Union republics severed ties and contracts. Babaevskaya factory, like many enterprises in the country, was in a state of half-life. As a result, the assortment has narrowed, production has dropped significantly.
The situation improved after the transformation of the enterprise into an open joint-stock company: OJSC Babaevsky. The recovery period took a lot of time, but it was very successful, and in 1997 Babaevsky won as the best Russian company in the nomination "For the highest efficiency of using all types of resources." In the future, the company strengthened in the domestic market, developed by releasing new product names, and gradually began to enter foreign markets. Since 1998, the company has received concern status.
Our days
The 2000s were marked in Russia by the creation of associations. So, in 2003, the Babaevsky Confectionery Concern entered the United Confectioners holding.
