“You have to do this work, regardless ....” Phraseologism, which comes last, we will consider today. By the way, it is usually used with the pretext "on".
“Look” is a stylistically tall and outdated version of “look”
If a person learns this, he will have no difficulty understanding the meaning of the expression. There is one more stable phrase - “despite”. It means the same as the one in question.
For instance. The boss comes up and says:
- Petrov, you must deliver this project on time, despite the circumstances.
- But Sergey Kuzmich, you know how much I have!
-Yes, I know Petrov, but despite ...
- This phraseology is familiar to me. Do not go on. I understood. Everything will be ready.
It is easy to see that “despite” is a more frequently encountered option, because it is less pathos and bombastic.
Do something without relying on authority
Where does the pathos and high stylistic coloring come from? The fact is that the expression in question has a biblical source - phraseology “regardless of faces”.
It is found in the Old and New Testaments and means that a person must do his job, not paying attention to external pressure, no matter what it is expressed. Usually we are talking about the authority and social status of others.
It is easiest to imagine and illustrate the expression with the example from the professional life of lawyers and prosecutors. A lot of great films were made about this - “Some Good Guys” (1992), “Time to Kill” (1996). The plot of these films is different, but what unites them is that the hero must withstand the pressure of both external and internal factors (beliefs, work habits). He must defend his position no matter what (phraseologism is quite suitable here) no matter what.
With lawyers it’s clear. Teachers fall into the same category of people. It would seem a little: well, what is the assessment of knowledge in comparison with the protection of life? Nevertheless, sometimes a lot in a person’s life depends on the role of a teacher. And the fate of a person can depend on one assessment, and this is without jokes and exaggerations. Therefore, teachers must carry out their work, regardless (phraseology here is quite appropriate) on the person and preferences.
But not everyone succeeds in working this way, unfortunately.
