Proper care of tomatoes is the key to their successful cultivation

It has long been no secret that vegetables play a very large role in the life of the human body. Being a storehouse of many vitamins, minerals and organic acids, they are present in the diet of most people. Without them, the normal development and functioning of the human body is almost impossible. In the list of healthy vegetables, tomatoes are by no means the last. They are used to prepare various delicious dishes, and also eat fresh.

More and more people are acquiring summer cottages and land to grow vegetables, including tomatoes, with their own hands, because caring for tomatoes is not so difficult. Those who already have experience in this matter say with confidence that growing tomatoes brings not only a rich harvest, but also a lot of positive emotions. But this is possible only if all the rules of agricultural technology are observed. This refers to the selection of seeds, the preparation of beds for tomatoes, the proper planting of tomato seedlings and the care of it. Initially, you can take a small piece of land for planting tomatoes, since for these purposes it will need to be dug up, fertilized, leveled, and weeds are periodically weeded. It may seem that caring for tomatoes will bring a lot of difficulties, but this is far from the case.

It may be difficult for beginners to choose among many varieties of tomato seeds. In order not to get into trouble, you must first take into account the size of the land. If you have a small one, give preference to tall varieties, since large areas are preferred for low varieties. You also need to know that tall varieties require more time when leaving than undersized varieties, since they need additional support.

Tomatoes are planted directly in the open ground, but only when the spring soil warms up to a temperature of at least 10-15 degrees. Most people plant seeds in various containers and keep them in warm rooms until they germinate. Caring for tomatoes at the initial stage consists in watering and timely hardening of seedlings. You need to temper the shoots gradually, taking them out to the street and daily increasing the time spent in the spring sunshine. Such procedures are very useful for seedlings and when planting in open ground will help plants acclimatize faster.

Before transplanting seedlings, you can soak its roots in special means that will protect them from the negative effects of pests. If you forgot to do this, do not despair, you can spray the shoots later, but you will need to carry out this procedure, otherwise all your work will be destroyed by Colorado beetles and other pests. By the way, caring for tomatoes involves a constant fight against various insects and pests. Unfortunately, you can’t do without it, but with the proper use of special tools, you can minimize the likelihood of infection or the complete destruction of tomatoes.

Planted seedlings, if the weather is dry, must be watered daily, but this must be done so that the water falls only under the stems and in no case poured onto the leaves. If your residence is characterized by frequent lingering rains, then for a good tomato crop it will be necessary to tear off extra shoots and leaves from the stems. This procedure will allow the plant to ventilate faster, thereby protecting the stems from decay. In addition, the removal of lateral stems (stepsons) allows you to grow larger fruits. As you can see, from all of the above, there is absolutely nothing complicated, so everyone can start growing tasty and healthy tomatoes in their summer cottage!
