short biography
Born May 22, 1983 in the city of Vitebsk, in the Republic of Belarus.
Boxing Victor Zuev fell in love in his youth. From the age of nine, he began to get involved in this sport and was an amateur boxer. After some time, his coach (who has never changed) Anatoly Kolchin began to put Victor in the competition. Immediately the young fighter began to win victories over rivals. The coach considered the athlete’s potential immediately, and soon the tandem of Victor and Anatoly Kolchin began to try a new level in the competition.
Sports achivments
Victor Zuev began to win victories in big sports since he was nineteen. In 2002, he took third place at the European Championship, which was held in the city of Perm. It was then that the whole world learned about the successful boxer Viktor Zuev.
In 2003, the athlete was awarded a bronze medal at the World Championships in Bangkok.
The year 2004 was especially successful for Viktor Zuev and Anatoly Kolchin. The Olympic Games were held in Athens, in which the Belarusian athlete took second place and was awarded a silver medal.
In the same year, the European Championships in Pula took place. There, an athlete also won a silver medal for taking second place.
After 2004, the boxer’s participation in games and championships was interrupted for five years. He did not stop training and participated in competitions, but at a lower level. In addition, the coach continued to prepare the fighter for the upcoming World Cup and European Championship.
In 2009, Viktor Zuev took part in the World Cup in Milan and won a bronze medal for taking third place.
Following the big sporting event in 2010, the European Championship in Moscow followed, in which the tandem of Anatoly Kolchin and Viktor Zuev also took part. The fighter again won the second prize and received a silver medal.
Between major boxing competitions, the athlete again had a break of three years. In 2013, Viktor Zuev took part in the European Championship, held in Minsk. There he worthily took third place and was awarded a bronze medal.
How were these results achieved?
Anatoly Kolchin is a professional trainer. He trained more than one fighter, and each athlete was successful.
To win prizes in the championships, Viktor Zuev needed to train day and night, in the literal sense of the word. Preparing for sports events had to devote more than 17 hours a day. Only hard training, practicing all kinds of strikes and defense techniques could give Victor the opportunity to become a real champion. In addition to participating in world competitions, the boxer took part in competitions in Belarus.
It is worth noting the fact that in 2013, after the last European Championship, coach Anatoly Kolchin passed away. Perhaps this influenced Zuev’s decision to leave the sport. He reached the heights necessary for himself; the whole world recognized him. As Victor said, when the trainer was gone, the boxer was gone. Being a professional athlete is very hard work. Victor decided to devote all his time to his family.
How an athlete lives after leaving
After completing his sports career, Zuev did not engage in sports. Regular physical activity is necessary for a trained body. Victor deals with children in a sports school, in the one in which he studied. In addition, he continues to train.
He devotes all his free time to his wife Svetlana and daughters: Maria and Sofia. As Zuev said, after leaving sports, his main work is the work of his father. He brings up daughters, makes sure that they do something useful, encourages new hobbies.
In addition, Victor is engaged in the construction of his own house. But his main activity is raising children. They play sports with the whole family: they like to ride a bicycle and roller skates. And Victor himself does not forget about the sport that he devoted many years to and achieved incredible success.
