Melons whose varieties we are unlikely to try

What melons exist, the varieties of which are almost impossible to taste on the territory of Russia in a general manner?

Spanish melons

Today, only on special orders in elite supermarkets can you find Spanish options that differ in unprecedented aroma and taste. Those who have tried them at least once in their life believe that such fruits from this southern country have no competitors in the world.

What do melons look like? Varieties do not differ in external attractiveness, because they are not yellow, but olive green. The size is also small, which at first somewhat confuses the connoisseurs of this delicacy. But if you just try this fruit with a delicate pulp, a magical smell and a delicate texture, as you know, it is magnificent. Gourmets who have visited more than one country note that Spanish samples have a thin crust. This fruit appears on the markets from the end of July and is sold until the fall.

Brazil product

Where else are delicious melons grown? Varieties imported from Brazil in the winter season are similar to the Spanish ones, however, they have a less bright aroma, white flesh, moderately developed middle with stones, and thin skin. The fruit also has a green color. Users consider such melons to be quite common in taste, which may be due to the long periods of transportation from South America.

Fruits from Uzbekistan

True lovers of melon, whose varieties number more than one and a half hundred, should go to Uzbekistan, where there is just such a variety. Here this fruit is called a paradise delicacy and they believe that it is worthy of feelings equal to love for a woman. In Uzbekistan, this plant has been cultivated since the first century AD, so there really is something to try here.

If you get to the Kovun Saili melon festival in late summer - early September, you can taste better samples of the varieties "Gokcha", "Torlama", "Aknovat Khorezm" from the ancient times known Khorezm agricultural zone. Melons “ak kosh”, “shakar-para” from the Ferghana Valley are brought here. The Tashkent region supplies precocious “kokcha”, “ak kalya posh” and options with dense pulp, such as “walk orange” or “walk green meat”, etc.

Only hard-fleshed samples enter the Russian market, while varieties with delicate pulp can only be tasted in Uzbekistan, as they are poorly transported. Locals consume melons both fresh and dried, and the taste and aroma of the fruit after this treatment is fully preserved.

sort of torpedo melon

Amal melon can often be found in stores in the season. This is an elongated fruit of a sufficiently large size (up to 4 kg, it is assumed that the larger it is, the better) with a yellow-green skin in large cracks. It is believed that this is the sweetest variety of melons available to Russians. The skin of the fetus is thin, in consistency good samples look like ice cream, melt in the mouth.

Melon variety “torpedo”, in fact, is not a variety, as “amals” are called in trading networks for their shape. In general, this plant has many varieties, including those with a low sugar content and an elongated serpentine form (“ajur”, “tarra”). Such fruits in South and Central Asia are used instead of cucumbers.
