Pridneprovskaya TPP is a large regional thermal power plant that provides energy and heat to the Dnipropetrovsk region. It is located in the suburbs of the city of the Dnieper (formerly Dnepropetrovsk) on the left bank of the river of the same name. The installed capacity is 1765 MW.
Creature
In 1951, the construction of the Dnieper Thermal Power Plant in Ukraine, which was the most powerful in the USSR, began west of the Cossack village of Tsapli. Simultaneously with the production blocks, the town of power engineers Pridneprovsk was built.
The first 100 MW power unit was launched in 1954. For several years, the development of the station was due to the construction of blocks of the same capacity: three of them were completed in 1955, one each in 1957 and 1958. At the same time, a new VKT-100 turbine was installed at blocks No. 5 and No. 6, which reduced fuel consumption by 6% compared to previous samples.
Expansion
In 1959, the first unit with increased capacity was commissioned at the Dnieper TPP. Unit 7 was the first in the USSR to be able to produce 150 MW. Next, the similar blocks No. 8 and No. 9 (1960), No. 10 (1961) began to work. The turbine of unit No. 11 (1963) had a record capacity of 300 MW. During the years 1964-1966, two facilities of 300 MW each were commissioned, which brought the total capacity of the station to 2,400 MW. This is four times the capacity of DneproGES.
Subsequent development
In the period from 1979 to 1983, due to the unsatisfactory technical condition of the equipment, the first six units were decommissioned. Also in the future, due to turbine wear, the power of units No. 11-14 was reduced from 300 to 285 MW.
In the period between 1980 and 1986, reconstruction of units No. 7-10 was carried out at the Pridneprovskaya TPP. They implemented the opportunity to work in the heating mode, thanks to which the station became a heat supplier to the Pridneprovsky microdistrict and the left bank of the Dnieper. In 2011, the modernization of unit No. 11 was completed with the installation of a new K-310 cogeneration turbine capable of delivering 310 MW. As of the beginning of the 2010s, blocks No. 12 and No. 14 were in conservation.
Today, the company employs more than 1,100 people. These are mainly residents of Pridneprovsk (a residential area of ββthe Dnieper, founded in the 1950s as a city of power engineers).
Problems and solutions
Due to the conflict in the Donbass at the beginning of 2017, the Dnieper TPP was stopped due to a lack of coal. The thermal power plant was designed using Donbass anthracite. Subsequently, it began to be converted to gas, but during the crisis with the supply of this type of fuel from Russia, they returned to coal consumption. Attempts to use Australian and South African raw materials were found to be unsuccessful due to unnecessarily high cost and inconsistency with a number of characteristics.
In the spring of 2017, the owner of the Dneprenergo station decided to transfer it to the use of coal from the gas group, which would avoid the need for purchases of anthracite, the production capacities of which were on the territory of the DPR. By the beginning of the heating season 2017/2018, it is planned to transfer two power units with a capacity of 150 MW each, it is planned to re-equip all equipment by the next heating season.
Activities
Pridneprovskaya TPP carries out:
- Production, supply, transmission, purchase, sale of electric and thermal energy in Ukraine and abroad.
- The operation of power plants, dams, substations, transmission lines and various structures.
- Organization and conduct of scientific and applied research and development work, the introduction of technical, technological and other developments.
- Development of mineral deposits, their processing, well drilling, land reclamation and design work.
The company also carries out installation, dismantling, commissioning and commissioning, electrical measurements and tests, maintenance and repair of production equipment, including electrical installations above 1000 V. Address of Pridneprovskaya TPP: 49112, Dnipropetrovsk region, Dnipro city, Gavanskaya-1 street.
Ecological problems
Pridneprovskaya Thermal Power Plant , which is part of Dneproenergo PJSC, is the main environmental pollutant in the Dnieper region. Given the large height of the pipes (120-250 m) of the main sources of emissions, the large amount of pollution (from 80,000 to 173,000 tons per year), the insufficient efficiency of cleaning emissions, dust and gas pollution of the atmosphere extends to tens, and under certain hydrometeorological conditions, to hundreds of kilometers from power plant emission sources.
