Evgeny Lukyanenko is one of the most famous and titled athletes of the Russian Federation. The athlete performs in the pole vault and during the sports career managed to achieve quite a lot, however, his fame is ambiguous and overshadowed by one tragic incident.
Childhood and career start
The future athlete was born in the winter of 1985 in the Krasnodar Territory. In childhood, the child was extremely active and mobile. As often happens, parents, in order to direct their son’s energy into a constructive channel, gave little Zhenya to the athletics section. The guy did not mind, because he loved classes, where you need to move a lot. From the first trainings it became noticeable that the child has certain inclinations. Children's coaches decided that Eugene needed to be engaged in pole vaulting: he was very thin, but flexible, strong and tall. In a word, he had an ideal physique for a jumper.
Lukyanenko begins to give himself completely to sport, and in the future it will bear fruit. Today, the athlete recalls with warmth and nostalgia the times when his parents took him to a sports school, as well as his first coach.
Professional career
Ascent of Evgeny Lukyanenko began quite early, and this is due to the fact that the athlete showed high results in youth and youth competitions. For some time he played only in the domestic arena, but in 2007 the situation changed. It was then that the selection for the Olympic Games, which were supposed to be held in 2008 in Beijing, began. My wife at the time of the selection was only twenty-two years old, but many professionals said that he would be among those who would win a ticket to Beijing.
Everything happened just like that - Evgeny Lukyanenko overcame the selection without problems and began to prepare directly for the Olympic Games.
Among other things, Lukyanenko is the multiple champion of Russia in pole vaulting, as well as the winner of the World Athletics Championships, which took place in Spain in 2008, just a few months before the Olympics.
Beijing Olympics
Pole jumper Yevgeny Lukyanenko went to China as a favorite of the Olympics, and many predicted his victory. Unfortunately, the athlete did not manage to win a gold award: he stopped a step away from the highest achievement. The young and promising athlete climbed only the second step of the podium. He didn’t have enough centimeters to win, nevertheless, as many critics later noted , this was still a good result for an athlete who had only recently started performing in the international arena.
For the games in China, Yevgeny Lukyanenko will receive an honorary government award - the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree.
After a while, the athlete will give an interview in which he notes that he was counting on the first place, but he is still happy with the result.
Athlete involved in a traffic accident
In 2009, an unpleasant event happened in the life of a young man, which laid the foundation for a series of failures in his personal and sports life. Eugene became the culprit of a tragic and large-scale accident. He was driving his car and, according to the official version of the State traffic inspectorate, lost control. At this moment, in addition to Lukyanenko, his friends were sitting in the car - pregnant Irina Kovalchuk (girlfriend of a fellow athlete), Anna and Alexey. As a result of the accident, Irina died, and Anna became disabled.
The Olympic silver medalist was facing a sentence of up to eleven years in prison. After some time, Alexey Lyashenko took the blame on himself, who said that it was he who was driving. But witnesses will claim that the famous athlete drove the car. Some experts associated this turn of events with the circumstance of the discovery of alcohol in the blood of Eugene.
In the end, it was Alexei who was judged. Perhaps the reason was that the father of Eugene is far from the last person in the Krasnodar Territory, and the athlete persuaded a friend to take the blame. Anyway, now Evgeny Lukyanenko does not like to remember this story. The photo from the scene of the accident that day spread around many newspapers and television programs. Many were surprised that there were survivors at all.
Olympics in London
