History of education

The post-war years of the Soviet Union was a time of intensive construction, restoration of cities, industrial enterprises and further development of the country, which needed a forest. The main stake was placed on the endless taiga open spaces of the Tyumen region and specifically on the Khanty-Mansiysk District. In 1957, the laying of the railway connecting the Urals with the Ob basin began.

It was this factor that predetermined the construction of the timber industry enterprise, and with it the village where the workers lived. The railway solved the main problem - transportation of wood. The foundation of the village occurred in 1962, when a detachment of builders in the amount of 50 people landed on the undeveloped territory of the future settlement. Initially, nine houses were built, a year later the number of inhabitants of the village of Sovetsky Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug totaled 1.5 thousand.

At the end of the summer of 1963, the Ob – Ivdel railway passed near the village. This accelerated the development of the Soviet village. Already in January of that year, he was officially declared a working village, its executive body, the Council of Deputies, was created.

Thanks to an advanced enterprise - the timber industry enterprise - the village was rapidly developing. After a year of its existence, three streets were built. In 1965, schools were opened: an eight-year-old and a school for working youth. Two years later, a kindergarten and a public library were built.

Village Development

The Soviet logging village of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug grew rapidly. Much attention was paid to the development of its infrastructure. The construction of a clinic, school, kindergarten and club attracted here young people who wanted to not only try taiga romance, but dream of creating their own families. The population growth, although it increased in large part due to the arrival of new workers, but in the village there were indigenous people who were born here.

In 1968, the population was a little less than 6 thousand people. The Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR adopted a decree on the approval of the Soviet region of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. It included the working villages of Sovetsky, Pionersky and Komsomolsky. The significance of the region for the country can be explained by the fact that in the same year Sovetsky Airport was commissioned as the base unit of the Tyumen air squad. Here, mainly helicopters were based, with the help of which communication was made with remote settlements.

Post-soviet period

Surprising as it may seem, the post-Soviet period, which painfully hit the industrial regions of the Russian North, where many towns and cities turned into “ghosts”, having lost a significant part of the population that was leaving for the mainland, practically did not affect the population of the Soviet Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug (a photo of this region you see in the article). The number of inhabitants continued to grow, and in 1996 it amounted to 20,000.

In the same year, a decision was made to classify the village of Sovetskiy as a city of regional significance. The city of Yugorsk is removed from the Sovetsky District and assigned to the cities of district significance.
