"I hate myself!" How to love yourself again?

In our information age, filled with glossy magazines and public labels, it is very difficult to maintain a psychological state in shape. All kinds of ideals and images are imposed on a person from an early age, without which he cannot do without even at a more conscious age. As a result of self-deformation, a person begins to perceive himself through the negative prism of emotions. The running mechanism can no longer stop, and destructive self-hatred arises.

“I hate myself!” - Often these words can be heard not only from the lips of a teenager, but also from an adult, self-sufficient person. This is not selfishness and not the desire to attract attention with such statements. A similar problem has much deeper psychological roots.

I hate myself

Often the phrase “I hate myself and want to die” can be heard from the lips of an excellent student, an editorial, a beauty or a handsome man, a first-class athlete, a better manager, etc. Usually people who tend to perfectionism and idealize themselves suffer from self-hatred syndrome. For example, a student is used to being at the forefront, that he is studying well and that any exam is not a problem for him. But once he stumbles once, once makes a mistake - and the whole world collapses. Suppose that an excellent student in any exam will receive an average mark instead of the usual five - this situation will turn into a tragedy for him. And the only conclusion will be the phrase: "I hate myself, I'm a loser!" The student for a long time will go out of the rut, he will begin to engage in self-flagellation. Sometimes, when a person alone cannot get out of the veil of self-hatred, he can commit suicide.

To live in this world with love for yourself and others, you should never idealize yourself, your life situation, or other people. After all, a person who idealizes himself will break at the slightest blunder, because he will have to change his “pink glasses” to a realistic worldview. The reason for self-hatred is ordinary anger directed inward: I do not correspond to my own ideal, therefore I hate myself.

Usually attacks of such hatred blunt the vision of oneself. A person begins to lose touch with the real world, he is completely immersed in his own grievances, ceases to adequately respond to the impulses of others. Any phrase or casual look seems insulting and degrading to his dignity. He reacts irritably and aggressively to attempts to help. Often you can hear from him: “Leave me alone!” I want to be alone! How tired you are to me! I hate myself!" Life begins to seem like an eternal struggle with the outside world. But in reality, there is a struggle between the “real Self” and the “ideal Self”.

i hate myself

History is familiar not one case when self-hatred was projected on the outside world and loved ones. In this case, the person became a tyrant for friends and family. Choosing a victim, he begins to mentally destroy it. Moreover, the more painfully he offends an innocent person, the more he enjoys from this process. In this way, the "self-loathing" asserts itself and amuses the pride of his "ideal Self."

The above symptoms can lead to serious consequences for yourself and others. Therefore, you need to burn your own ideal and love the “real I” as it is: with all the weaknesses, lateness, speech errors, extra pounds and more. After all, life was given once, and it is best to live it with open eyes to a realistic and diverse world.
