Accuracy - what is it?

Most children, having barely learned to eat on their own, begin to hear a new word from their beloved parents: "carefully." However, they truly realize its significance much later, not to mention behaving accordingly. And some, even as adults, remain unable to acquire this cherished quality - accuracy. Meanwhile, there are many professions in which without it there is simply nothing to do. What kind of specialties are these and in general - where did the word “accuracy” come from and what does it mean?

Origin of the term

Like many other tricky words, this also came into the Russian language from Latin. The term "accuracy" is derived from accūrātus, which in translation from the language of the proud Romans means "thoroughness, meticulousness, diligent execution and thoughtfulness."

In Russian, this word began to be widely used in the 18th century when Peter I came to power. Probably, trying to bring the country to the European level and trying his best to eradicate slackness, the tsar began to popularize this term in order to accustom his subjects to discipline and conscientiousness.

Value

This term has several meanings. In a broad sense, accuracy is a human character trait that manifests itself in this individual's love for order and purity.

Also, this word denotes the ability of an individual to thoroughly and timely perform his work, as well as be attentive to everything that he does.

accuracy in work

The adjective “neat”, derived from this term, often characterizes an object or person as something beautiful and admirable (neat handwriting, neat hairstyle).

Antonyms and synonyms

To better understand the meaning of this character trait, it is worth knowing its synonyms and antonyms. So, terms that have a similar meaning to the word "neatness" are cleanliness and neatness. The above expressions are synonymous when it comes to hygiene.

require accuracy

But accuracy in work has other synonyms: scrupulousness, thoroughness, meticulousness, conscientiousness, diligence, punctuality, and scrupulousness.

The number of antonyms for this term is huge. Here are just the most famous of them: sloppiness, negligence, negligence, dishonesty, inaccuracy, negligence.

Accuracy as a quality of character

As for accuracy as a personality trait, it is indispensable and very important for everyone. Unlike musical ear, the talent for drawing or composing poems, this quality is not innate and is not due to a genetic predisposition.

quality accuracy

Accuracy is the result of proper upbringing (by parents in childhood) or self-upbringing (by the individual at a conscious age). For this reason, the sooner parents begin to instill in their child the habit of monitoring their own neatness, the more chances he has to grow into a neat person.

Unfortunately, even with the most neat parents, sometimes their child grows up as a careless creature, creating disorder and chaos around him. However, do not despair, unlike other character traits, it’s never too late to start cultivating accuracy in yourself, it is only important to do this carefully and systematically.

How to cultivate accuracy?

This is quite simple, you just have to approach the process in all seriousness. The main thing here is not speed, but constancy. If a person wants to become more clean, he needs to reconsider his own habits. For example, it is important to accustom yourself to put each thing in its place, and to clean it at home or at the workplace once a week on a clearly defined day, regardless of the degree of pollution.

work requiring accuracy

It is also important to cultivate accuracy in work. To do this, you should train yourself not to be late for the beginning of the working day, and also to arrive on time or in advance for business meetings.

The same applies to the process of doing the work. At first it’s worth learning to do the special actions that need to be done slowly, and as a person becomes skilled, you can speed up the pace, but try to ensure that quality does not suffer because of this.

Fostering accuracy in itself, at first it is necessary to constantly conduct a self-test. It would be nice to have a diary in which plans for the day, week, month and year will be recorded. Every evening it is necessary to conduct a short analysis of completed and unfulfilled items, as well as to draw up a plan for the next day.

Professions that require accuracy

A master of his craft is a person who carefully performs his duties. That is why, ideally, each specialty requires accuracy from employees. Moreover, more than others, medical workers need this line of character. After all, if a dress that was crocheted can be altered, and mistakes in a book or dissertation can be corrected, then a sloppy operation can cost the patient a life, and the doctor freedom. The same applies to drivers, pilots, engineers, teachers, pharmacists and other similar specialists who are daily responsible for human lives.

accuracy in work

Accuracy is that character trait that every sane person needs . It is believed that the Slavs, although fairly tidy, are not very accurate in terms of their work. As for the inaccuracy, there are legends about it.

Despite the fact that such an opinion appeared on the basis of real observations, not all Slavs are so unscrupulous about their work. Otherwise, where would the world famous Belarusian, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish masters, inventors, engineers, scientists and doctors come from. But to achieve recognition in these areas without accuracy and professionalism is impossible.

accuracy is

I would like to believe that every year in our country there will be more and more people who monitor their accuracy at home and at work, and the “prediction” of Robert Rozhdestvensky expressed in his wonderful poem “On Masters” will never come true:

"The world will not perish from gluttony,
Not from the intrigues of alien planets,
Not from droughts, not from frosts,
Not from nuclear super attacks -
He will die by believing in the slogan
Good-natured: "It will do, too!"
