How it all began

The famous Soviet cruiser survived its first festival in January 1953 - on the 25th it solemnly raised the flag of the power fleet. The construction took place with the participation of the commander of the eighth compound of the KBF. The ship is assigned to the Tallinn base. The ship was built by the Leningrad 189th plant named after Ordzhonikidze. Vehicles released under 419th number. The name was chosen in honor of the famous Soviet figure, born in the nineteenth century and who died in 1948. Zhdanov during his political career was the secretary of the regional committee of the CPSU (b) in Leningrad. The acceptance certificate for the vessel was issued on the last December day of 1952. From this moment the ship is in service.

Although the port of registry of the cruiser "Zhdanov" was Tallinn, this does not mean that the ship was here all the time. The first distant passage in the history of the ship occurred in 1957, when in the fall a light ship was sent to Yugoslavia. Syria was also visited during the voyage, after which the cruiser returned. The crew of the ship successfully completed all the tasks assigned to it. As a result of the event, staff discipline, exceptional training of all staff, and organizational skills of the management team were noted. All sailors, foremen, officers who became participants in this campaign of 1957 received a special badge confirming participation in the distant sea passage.

The story goes on

The date of launching the cruiser Zhdanov is considered to be December 27, 1950, and from that moment the glorious history of the ship and its crew began. Fifteen years after the first appearance in the native element, the cruiser was sent to the factory docks. According to the program, it was planned to re-equip the ship, repair it on an average scale, and slightly modernize it. The ship was built according to the project 68 bis, but the modernization was expected such that, based on its results, the ship could be considered a type 68-U1, that is, a full-fledged control cruiser. In 1971, the ship successfully passed the autumn tests at the plant; closer to the beginning of winter, they organized state tests, which were also successfully passed by the machine and its personnel.

Since 1971, the project 68 bis cruiser has been finally retrained in the switchgear. From this moment, the ship is used to control the forces of the fleet and its resources. The cruiser is designed for the commander of the connection and is equipped with everything necessary for constant communication with personnel. At the same time, equipment was installed for data collection, analysis and storage. The ship was equipped with the most advanced communications equipment for that year, including satellite.

The completion of the history of the ship

The cruiser, built according to the “68 bis” project, then converted into the switchgear, has been deprived of its former name obtained in honor of the party leader since the second month of 1989. From this moment on, the ship is called “KRU 101”. The beginning of the summer of that year was marked by a transfer to reserve forces. The crew transfers the ammunition to the responsible organizations, escorts the car to Troitskaya Bay, where it will have to defend. In December of the same year, the Defense Ministry issued an order in which it noted the unsatisfactory condition of the ship. At the same time, the country's authorities acknowledge that it is not possible to further use the vessel as a switchgear. From this moment on, the 101st ship was expelled from the combat structure of the Soviet flotilla. In the near future it should be handed over for scrapping.

An order according to which a ship equipped with advanced equipment and a satellite navigation system was expelled from the Navy was signed on 05/10/1990. An official document came out under the visa of Kasatonov. Issued by number 0163. From this moment, work begins on the complete disarmament of the vessel, the elimination of equipment and technical support. By mid-October, everything was ready for the descent of the flag, which happened on 10.24.1990. From that moment, the crew serving the cruiser was disbanded. It was decided to sell vehicles for scrap. The deal was made with a foreign interested company, scrapping was supposed in India.
