aluminum plant Volgograd

Volgograd aluminum smelter, Volgograd

Primary aluminum is smelted in its walls and a number of products are made on its basis. Started work on 01/26/1956, becoming during this time the country's seventh largest profile enterprise. The collective for labor merits has more than once been awarded with awards and memorials, the most honorable of which is the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. Factory Red October Volgograd

"Red October"

The factory “Red October” in Volgograd is one of the largest and high-tech metallurgical enterprises in the region. Here, special steel grades are smelted, which are so necessary for the automotive industry, weapons, production of rockets and aircraft, for petrochemical enterprises, research institutes and laboratories. This is the only such enterprise in the south of Russia.

The plant began working in Volgograd back in 1897. Tsaritsynsky metallurgical (as it was originally called) had a convenient location on the Volga, and after its discovery made a noticeable competition to the Ural iron-making manufactories. In 1910, the company smelted up to 8.5 million pounds of stainless steel.

After the revolution, the plant was nationalized and in 1922 it was given the current name “Red October”. In the 30s, reconstruction and replacement of obsolete equipment began. By the end of the decade, it was already one of the most technically equipped production facilities in the USSR. The company partially retained the title of flagship of metallurgy to this day. Today, about 900 brands of special steels and over 500 types of rolled products are produced in its workshops. Here a third of stainless steel grades are smelted in the country.

Barricade factory Volgograd

Plant "Barricades" (Volgograd)

The history of Barricade software dates back to 1914. After the outbreak of World War I, the army was faced with a shortage of ammunition and weapons. The government and the military department decided to create a number of new weapons enterprises, one of which was built in Tsaritsyno.

Throughout its history, the Volgograd plant mainly produced military products. With the beginning of World War II, the enterprise increased production. Especially the army needed artillery, partially lost during the retreat at the initial stage of the war. Up to 1000 guns were collected here per month. But when the Germans were on the outskirts of Stalingrad, the main facilities were evacuated to Altai.

Today, on the basis of the plant, there is a research and production center of Titan-Barricades JSC, whose tasks include the development of:

  • Large-caliber artillery weapons.
  • Launchers (PU) for tactical missile systems.
  • PU for strategic missile systems.

factories of Volgograd

Volgograd Tractor

The once legendary factory in Volgograd, which won fame during the Soviet era, but did not survive the realities of our days. In 1926, Stalingrad was chosen as the site for the construction of the first domestic large-scale tractor enterprise. Agriculture was in dire need of mechanized equipment; on June 17, 1930, the first 30-horsepower tractor STZ-1 left the assembly line. A year later, more than a hundred units of much-needed equipment were collected in his workshops per day.

With the outbreak of war, factory workers were able to establish repairs, and later the manufacture of T-34 tanks, as well as engines for them. Production did not stop even under the bombing and shelling of the fascist army that approached Stalingrad. Only when the fighting spread directly to the territory of the plant, the work of the workshops was suspended.

After the war, peaceful production was continued here. The basis was powerful DT series caterpillar tractors. Unfortunately, in the early 2000s, the Volgograd Tractor was faced with insoluble financial problems, and in 2007 the enterprise was abolished.
