This article contains information about the RPCh cable - its technical characteristics, definition of marking and its interpretation.
Installation, purpose and design of RPSh cables
The RPSh cable, designed to power units with voltages of 220, 380 and 660 volts, is multi-core with a rubber insulation layer. The scope of this product is the supply of electrical appliances and the installation of various electrical equipment. The conductor is quite simple in design. It consists of three conductive cores, the cross section of which can be from 0.75 to 10 mm 2 .
Cable cores are round or twisted into a single copper wire. The insulation of the wire is made of rubber or rubber based on rubber, while the insulation sheath is made in the form of a hose.
Before installation, the RPSh cable is preheated to a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius. This is necessary in order to solder it or press it with connecting material.
The RPSh cable is not suitable for outdoor installation, as it does not tolerate temperature extremes, moisture and open sunlight. Conductors of this type include modifications and can be ordered at the factory in various versions, and modifications of this cable contribute to an increase in service life and the possibility of working outdoors. They are also used even for protection against radio interference. The RPSh cable is shown in the figure below.
This type of wire is also suitable for connecting low-power and medium-power consumers. For example:
- microwave;
- outdoor fixtures;
- small electric motors and other consumers.
The color of such a cable is usually black, but the wire is allowed to be painted in any of the colors. It is worth noting that the primary insulation of conductive wires is painted in green, yellow and red. Also, the wire is quite flexible and can withstand multiple bends (500 and more cycles).

Technical characteristics of the RPSh cable
RPSh cable, the characteristics of which directly depend on the modification, type of execution, number of cores, type of insulation, is the most popular among its analogues. The main characteristics that distinguish the RPSH conductor are:
- The insulation resistance per kilometer is 0.11 Gom.
- The normal operating voltage at which the wire can be operated is 220, 380, 660 volts with a frequency of 50 to 400 Hz.
- Critical voltage for cable at 50 Hz - 1500 volts
- The weight of the cable can be different, depending on the type of execution and the number of cores.
- Possible building length - not less than 35 meters
- The insulation layer may vary depending on the design, cross-section of conductors and cable, but according to the standard for a cross section of 10 mm 2, the thickness of the surface layer is from 1.5 to 2 mm 2 .
For example: RPCh cable 10x1.5, where 10 is the number of cores, 1.5 is the cross-section of conductive cores. You can watch this type of cable in the image below.
Marking and decoding of RPSh conductor
Marking is designed to indicate all specifications. For example, RPSh: a cable, the decoding of the abbreviation of which is clearly presented below, looks like this.
- P - rubber insulation;
- P - a plastic layer of polyethylene;
- - silk (polyamide layer).
As you can see, everything is quite simple and logical.
