Usolsky pig farm is located in Eastern Siberia. Agricultural production cooperative "Usolsky pig farm" was founded in 1978. On October 23, the first pork production lines were launched in the Irkutsk Region. This livestock enterprise was considered one of the largest in Eastern Siberia and the Far East.
Over the course of its long history, the pig farm has had one leader - Ilya Sumarokov. He was appointed director of the enterprise in 1974, when construction was still underway. For his fruitful work, Ilya Alekseevich received the title of Honored Worker of Agriculture of Russia, became an honorary citizen of the Irkutsk region and a deputy of the regional Legislative Assembly. Today, several breeds of pigs are raised at the enterprise. In 2014, the herd amounted to more than 88 thousand animals. The increase in numbers exceeded previous years and amounted to 379 pigs.
About 100 thousand heads are annually processed and slaughtered. In the work, including the sale of finished products, an integrated approach is applied. The operating mode used is design.
Fixed assets constitute the indivisible property of members of the agricultural cooperative. Profit is distributed according to the decision taken at the general meeting. In addition, each member of the cooperative has one vote.
Using new technologies
The Usolsky pig factory is constantly improving, introducing new technologies in production, and reconstructs lines and workshops. Experts update the technical base of the pig complex without interrupting the production process.
In 2007, equipment for liquid feeding pigs, equipped with automatic feeding, was put into operation. This allowed to significantly reduce feed consumption. In addition, the cost of maintaining animals was reduced. The reconstruction and installation of cage equipment for growing piglets was carried out.
Modern designs of German production were used. Thanks to the innovation, piglets grow in pens with slotted plastic floors, so the number of drains is reduced.
Usolsky pig-breeding complex seeks to preserve the production of final products, therefore, it pays special attention to equipping meat processing workshops. Each year, about 300 million rubles are allocated for the implementation of new technologies and the improvement of technological processes used. Financing is carried out at the expense of the company's own funds.
Improving breeding herds
For many years, a breeding farm has been successfully operating at the enterprise. A large white breed of pig is bred on it. In 2009-2010, it was decided to update the brood stock. Elite breeding young stock was purchased from France Hybrid to improve the quality of meat (reduce the fat content in carcasses) and indicators of livestock productivity. In total, 670 pigs were transported to Siberia. Foreign partners gave detailed recommendations on caring for animals.
System-forming workshops of the enterprise
All buildings of the pig-breeding complex are equipped with ventilation shafts. Part of the air purification system is switched to automatic operation. The company is actively diversifying production. Not so long ago a workshop was opened for the production of animal feed. Over the past five years, pig nutrition has been fully supported. Raw materials for the production of feed (barley, peas and wheat) are purchased from trusted suppliers in Eastern Siberia. It corresponds to high quality indicators and passes veterinary and quarantine certification.
Three years ago, the company installed equipment for grain storage. A new warehouse for grain fodder with a volume of 6 thousand tons was built on the territory. Modern technologies used in production exclude the possibility of self-heating of grain during storage.
Feed Mill
The company has several feedlots. At the same time, the pigsties are divided into separate boxes, used with a certain frequency. The schedule for filling the living quarters for pigs is determined by a specially designed plan.
The pig farm is equipped with its own slaughterhouse.
Equipment
Highly qualified staff works on foreign equipment. On the latest conveyor line, you can slaughter over 500 pigs every day.
There are two veterinarians in the workshop who check the documentation, inspect the carcasses and give an opinion on the suitability of the meat for sale. One of them is an employee of the company, and the second is invited from the state veterinary service. Meat is processed right there at the enterprise in the sausage shop. The production is equipped with three machines for the production of meat mass. Specialists comply with all sanitary standards for the food industry and compile a passport with each batch of minced meat. Delicacies are made on an injector; this equipment has no foreign analogues. Usolsky pig farm can produce finished products for the consumer. As part of production control, each variety from the assortment list is tested in the laboratory for compliance with the declared composition and manufacturing technology. Sales volumes and product quality
The company sells daily over 50 tons of finished products. Only 10% goes to shopping centers, the rest is sold through an extensive network of company stores. The region has opened more than 20 points of sale. Usolsky pig farm is available in all major cities of the region (Irkutsk, Usolye-Sibirskoye, Angarsk, Cheremkhov and Shelekhov).
Before selling, the meat is cooled for 12 hours. In refrigerators maintain a constant temperature from 0 to +4 degrees. The carcasses of animals are in limbo, which excludes contact with the floor and walls of the room.
Smoked products and sausages gained the greatest popularity in the region, and the demand for convenience foods is also growing. One of the main competitive advantages in the market is the use of fresh chilled raw materials (pork is used, the price of which is quite low) for the manufacture of products. Every day, in the sausage shop, enterprises produce more than 35 tons of chilled pork meat products. Pork chops, semi-finished products, meatballs, various sausages and fresh pork, the price of which is quite affordable, are practically sold in the cities of the Irkutsk region.
Soy fillers are not used in the recipe, but beef is added to some sausages. Cow meat is purchased from residents of the region, and a veterinary certificate from the seller becomes a prerequisite for the purchase. Spices for delicacies are supplied by European manufacturers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The sausage casing is purchased directly from Moscow manufacturers, as well as in the Leningrad and Sverdlovsk regions.
Pig complex personnel policy
The agricultural enterprise achieved high rates of labor productivity of workers. More than 20 tons of processed meat products per employee of the food industry. The company employs 962 people according to 2014 data. All specialists have the necessary work experience and knowledge. The average age of the workforce is 39 years.
Specialists explain the choice of the employer with decent wages and stable work. The growth of wages for the year amounted to more than 19%. The pig complex provides workers with special social programs, holds regular competitions. Photos of the best employees adorn the company’s honor board.

Annually, over 300 million rubles are transferred to budgets and extra-budgetary funds. In 2013, the company received the title of “Best Taxpayer of the Year”. At the regional and district levels, tax revenues amount to about 180 million rubles.
Threats to the enterprise
Shepherd farm "Usolsky pig farm" does not work in isolation and feels all the changes occurring in the industry. Regularly, the company's management has to deal with external threats that can significantly affect the activities of the cooperative.
- Infectious diseases of pigs. The company takes all available measures to prevent infection of the livestock. But a number of diseases have not developed methods of prevention. For example, if you infect pigs with African plague, you will have to completely eliminate the livestock. For more effective protection of the herd, a special state program is needed.
- The general rise in price of goods and services. Changes in the cost of resources have a strong influence on the production of pork and the cost of production: rising prices for domestic crops during periods of crop failure, increasing tariffs for electricity, increasing the cost of transportation (including by rail), etc.
These are not the only threats to the pig industry. Russia's accession to the WTO and economic sanctions leave their mark on the work of the food industry. Specialists hope that most of the emerging problems can be solved with the help of state intervention.
