T-800 is a tractor of the 75th traction class, which refers to superheavy tracked models. In 1990, he was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest and most productive bulldozer. Today we will get to know the device and the characteristics of this machine.

Historical reference

Designers of the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant (ChTZ) were engaged in the development of a bulldozer weighing more than a hundred tons. In 1983, the production of a machine was launched at the same enterprise. In all its glory, the T-800 tractor showed itself for the first time during construction work at the South Ural NPP. Later, the machine worked on the reconstruction of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, where she happened to compete with the Japanese counterpart. The amount of work that an import tractor would require two weeks, the Soviet bulldozer performed in just one shift.

A powerful 820-horsepower motor allows this machine to perform tasks that are beyond the power of other equipment. It crushes rocks without problems and exposes permafrost, which makes it an indispensable tool in mining. The use of such a powerful bulldozer allows you not to explode the rock, which is very important when mining fragile diamonds. Thanks to this machine, the stones remain intact, without microcracks, which reduce their cost.

Chelyabinsk bulldozers performed well in mining and processing plants, when laying gas and oil pipelines in areas where the soil freezes through, in quarries, in gold mining enterprises, as well as in the processing of especially heavy and dense soils. In general, the T-800 tractor, whose photo looks very impressive, has found application in all areas in which great power and productivity are needed. The functionality of the machine is enhanced by the use of two types of tracks (6 tons for rock and 8 tons for loam).

Power point

The T-800 tractor is equipped with a 6-cylinder 4-stroke 6DM-21T engine with gas turbine supercharging and a liquid cooling system. Each engine cylinder has a diameter of 21 cm. Fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber. Intermediate cooling of the charge air is carried out using a heat exchanger - intercooler. The engine is equipped with a forced lubrication system with a dry sump.

Transmission

The model is equipped with a hydromechanical transmission. The planetary gearbox has three shafts and allows you to switch four speeds forward and two back. The T-800 tractor received a single-stage hydraulic three-wheeled transformer. In addition to the bevel gear, two-stage final drives are provided. Gearbox parts and rotary module mechanisms are constantly in oil, which allows to increase their life without adjustment.

Running

In addition to the general elastic torsion bar suspension, the machine rollers are equipped with individual springs. Lubrication is supplied to the tracks by a closed system, which allows to extend the life of the unit. The tractor uses a hydropneumatic tension mechanism, telescopic design.

Hydraulic system

The two-stage hydraulic system is equipped with gear type pumps. When the implement control lever is in the middle position, the pumps are not loaded. Ripper and bulldozer equipment are controlled on different lines. For this, selector controls are provided in the design. On the drain pipe of the tank is a full-flow filter.

Electrician

Four batteries are responsible for powering the electrical appliances of the T-800 tractor, the characteristics of which we are considering. The generator power is 3.5 kW, and the mains voltage is 17 V. It is important to note that the machine is equipped with an automatic control system that functions not only during its operation, but also when it is stopped.

Cabin

The spacious cabin with a volume of 3.5 m ³ is made of metal. For the heat and noise insulation of the cabin, a special lining is responsible. The operator’s comfortable work is also facilitated by double glazing and rubber shock absorbers installed between the cab and the tractor body. Inside, there are two jobs. Outside there is a mount for installing guards for operators. A couple of levers mounted on the control panel is responsible for turning the machine. The brake pedal is designed to brake the machine with the engine turned on. When the motor stalls, an automatic emergency braking system is activated.
