Old Russian fun - hunting for a hare. At all times, it was one of the favorite types of male leisure, especially if it is hunting with hounds. Hunters go to the forest in the forest, to the Prusak - in the field, copses, to the edges. In this type of hunting, dogs play a decisive role. With loud barking, the hounds chase a hare.

Dog hunting for a hare involves observing certain rules and ethics that are carefully passed down by hunters from generation to generation. The area where they are going to hunt is carefully selected away from those places where raids on ungulates are carried out.

Hunting for a hare in the fall is interesting. When the snow does not fall for a long time, and the hare has already changed his fur coat for winter, the hunting “in the pattern” is fascinating. The hunters, united in two or three people, walk through the forest, in those places where the hare is found, and carefully peer at all the white spots nearby. At this time, the animal lies on the ground very tightly. It is not difficult to approach him on a bed.

When the snow falls, tracing of the hare and grouse on the trail will begin. Inveterate, experienced hunters begin to hunt for hares, when severe frosts and deep snows allow the use of beagles.

It is advisable to go out in the early morning when it is much easier for dogs to find

a fresh, not yet cooled hare track. Having let the dogs down, people move in a chain along the terrain on which the hares are lying. Experienced hunters are well aware that in rainy, damp years, hares should be sought in dry places on the hills, and in arid - in the lowlands. In autumn, hares most often settle in open areas. In the forests they are worried by drops. With snow falling, the white rush rushes deeper into the forest, and the rook comes closer to the nearest villages where it feeds on winter crops.

In those places where small villages or towns are located on the hunting grounds, the raised rook tends to go on the road, cross the village and get rid of dog chasing. Most often, local hunters are aware of such a “tactic” of a brown man and take advance positions at the crossroads near the nearest village. Thus, the hunt for a hare is facilitated. The hare makes a circle, the size of which depends on the terrain on which the race is being carried out, but mainly on the dogs.

If the hare is chased by fast dogs, then it makes a much larger circle than when chased by quiet, “walking” dogs. This is the basis for the hunt for a brown ruse in Western Europe with a dachshund. Having picked up the beast from the lying place, the hunter takes out a dachshund from his backpack and lets it go in a fresh trail. The dachshund pursues him slowly, but having noticed an eared one, he gives a voice, thereby making hunting for hares easier.

Waiting for the beast, it is necessary to choose a place from which the animal’s lying area or those transitions that he walked in the previous round are clearly visible. When the chase approaches, the hunter must stand still, but be fully prepared for the shot. You can’t move from place to place: a hare can abandon its habitable area, lead dogs away and ruin the hunt.

Be careful when shooting so as not to injure the dog. You can shoot a hare only when you see it clearly, with a shot number 2 or number 3. When a hare is killed, the hunter notifies the other participants of the hunt with his voice, encourages the dogs to paws and continues the hunt.
