An elastic rim is a very practical thing, because it allows you to quickly and reliably style your hair in an original hairstyle.
How to make a gum-rim itself?
If a girl possesses the most basic sewing skills, she can very well make such an adornment of those materials that can be found in the house. In this case, the product will turn out no worse than that of any well-known designer.
First, try simple gum bands. Once you master the technique, you can begin to fantasize and create more complex models. Remember, the main rule of elastic jewelry for hair: the rim should be made very carefully, especially the junction of the rim with an elastic band.
Therefore, the main attention should not be directed to the front side of the hoop, but to the back, the connection should look very beautiful (then no one will guess that you sewed such a beautiful decoration yourself).
Simple elastic band
Photos well demonstrate the manufacturing sequence:
- Prepare the materials. You will need: elastic tape of dense structure; two small, one-piece (seamless) elastic bands used for hair. Prepare glue to glue the edge of the elastic tape (to prevent the edge from shedding); scissors; a needle and a strong thread (nylon, preferably). Pliers may be required to pull the needle through several layers of elastic material.
- Grab the edge of the small gum with an elastic tape whose edge is already dry after gluing. Wrap the edge as shown in the photo (twice).
- Carefully start flashing the gum bezel, trying to hide the seam, making it invisible. Pass the needle through the inner cavity of the rolled up material. Fasten the thread securely and hide the end inside the seam.
- Connect one elastic band to another, as shown in the photo.
- Now try on the rim and in place determine the length of the elastic tape. Add seam allowance and cut. Repeat all operations with the other end of the tape (do not forget to glue it). To ensure that this jewelry is worn well, it is important to achieve the exact size. Otherwise, the gum bands will slip while wearing.
