High jumps - a fascinating sight

One of the commonly available types of athletics is high jumps. Competitions are held among them among professionals, but everyone who studied at school remembers how physical education teachers were forced to jump over the bar and land correctly on a trampoline. Perhaps not everyone understood the importance of such an exercise, but in fact, high jumps allow you to fully develop your body, at least in school years.

This sport greatly develops flexibility and jumping ability. That is why it is included in the school curriculum, and each student must be able to jump in height.

The essence of this exercise is simple: two vertical poles are installed, between which there is a horizontal bar, the height of which is adjustable. Behind this design are mats that allow jumpers to soften the fall and avoid injuries. The run for the jump is taken obliquely from the crossbar, right in front of it the athlete must push as hard as possible to fly over the crossbar without dropping it. The task is not an easy one, but if you constantly train, you can improve your body and reach more and more heights.

There are different methods of high jump, but only two are officially recognized.

With its help, they train in schools, but for a long time it has not been used in competitions, since it does not give a sufficient result. Its meaning is that after the run during the jump, the athlete first carries one leg through the bar, and then the other. Nothing complicated, but the heights needed in international competitions, it is simply impossible to achieve. Therefore, by trial and error, another style was invented, which was called "fosbury flop". The athlete takes the run not directly on the diagonal, but along the arc, during the jump, turns his back to the ground and gradually transfers his whole body over the bar, starting from the head and ending with the legs. This view allows you to jump much higher than when using stepping, so it is by far the most common among professionals.

High jumps have their own competition system, which is not so easy to understand.
It’s worth starting with the fact that the participant always has three attempts, and he leaves the competition only if he could not take the height three times in a row. He can skip any heights, that is, jump 1.70, skip 1.80 and immediately jump 1.90. But at the same time, he must remember that if he cannot take the height of 1.90 three times, then the result will be the height of 1.70. Thus, you can save energy, but take risks by jumping sharply to new heights, or you can systematically and confidently go to success by jumping all heights and stably ensuring yourself a high result. These decisions of athletes make high jumps a very exciting sport.
