Undertaker, Pushkin: a summary of the story

Prokhorov Adriyan finally realized his dream and moved to a long-liked house from Basmannaya Street to Nikitskaya. But the novelty a little scares the man, and he does not feel much joy from moving. In order to show the common man’s commitment to the usual routine, Pushkin wrote the story “Undertaker”. A brief summary of it tells about a gloomy man of an unusual profession.

Meet new neighbors

Adriyan Prokhorov worked as an undertaker, his character was fully consistent with the profession, the man was unsociable, gloomy and taciturn. He was not interested in everyday worries; Adrian, after moving, was saddened not to lose his client - the merchant merchant Tryukhin, who was near death. Pushkin also wanted to illuminate the greedy nature of man in the story The Undertaker. The holiday went on until the owner offered to drink for the health of those for whom they work. And then the baker offered Adriyan to drink for the health of his dead. Laughter rose, offending the undertaker.

Strange guests

Pushkin's story "Undertaker" comes to a climax at the moment when the drunk Prokhorov comes home. He is very angry with the Germans, who made him laugh, because he considers his craft no worse than their work. In anger, a man tells his employee that it is better to invite the dead for housewarming than his neighbors. The woman advises him to cross himself, but Adrian does not listen to her.

The summary indicates that Prokhorov was picked up early in the morning, as the clerk Tryukhina arrived with the message that the merchant had passed away and that Adriyan’s services were required. And here Adriyan sees with horror that the dead that he had once buried come to visit him. All of them rushed to greet Prokhorov, one even climbed to cuddle. Undertaker pushed him away, and the poor fellow immediately crumbled. The rest of the dead did not like such rough treatment, and they began to threaten Adriyan, after which the owner lost his feelings.

Awakening

With the thought of how good it is that some events are a dream, Pushkin wrote The Undertaker. The main characters are ordinary people with their problems and concerns. Prokhorov was so worried about the loss of earnings and became angry with his new acquaintances that he had a strange and somewhat terrible dream. A man woke up in the morning and, according to the worker’s stories, realized that Tryukhina was not dying, and that he had been sleeping all the time after returning from a shoemaker. After that, the undertaker sighed with relief and ordered the samovar to be placed.
