Soap base
Soap base is called finished soap. True, while it is colorless and odorless. This is an ideal ingredient for making soap at home. It contains a balanced amount of vegetable fats, alkali, glycerin and, of course, water. The soap base is of several types:
- Transparent. It differs from white only in the absence of titanium dioxide. This type of base is ideal for the preparation of “soap in soap”, two- or three-color versions, as well as soap interspersed and instances with herbs and flowers inside.
- White base. It is often used to make soaps of gentle and light pastel shades and various versions of puff soap.
- Creamy base. Its use, as a rule, is limited to the preparation of scrubs.
The soap base can be made both cold and hot, but this does not affect the properties of the finished product. The white base may be a slightly yellowish tint. This is due to the characteristics of the feedstock, so do not think that the absence of a pure white color indicates a violation of the technology or an expiring shelf life.
Where to buy a soap base?
This question is often asked by novice soap makers. It seems to many that the soap base is sold only in large cities and in some specialized stores. In fact, at present it can be bought almost everywhere. If there is a store selling handmade soap in your city or city, you can ask the consultant where to get the base. It often turns out that this can be done with them. Considering the popularity of making soap at home, many stores have included in their assortment all the necessary accessories.
Why else can you use a soap base?
The use of a soap base is not limited only to the preparation of soap. From a creamy base, scrub is most often prepared. And also a new direction is actively developing - to independently prepare shampoo on a soap basis. Many manufacturers offer a ready-made base that is thickened and ready for the introduction of fragrances, dyes or decoctions of herbs.
