French midfielder Moussa Sissoko

Moussa Sissoko is a French midfielder who plays for the English Tottenham Hotspur. He is 27 years old, and he is gradually reaching the peak of his career, but it cannot be said that he has become a world star. Moussa Sissoko plays the position of a central midfielder in the role of the so-called “box-to-box”, that is, a football player who works from his own penalty area to someone else's. He can also be advanced one position and become an attacking midfielder or move to the right flank.

Carier start

Moussa Sissoko was born on August 18, 1989 in France in a family of Malian immigrants. At nine, he joined the Esperance Club Football Academy, which he quickly replaced with Red Star. Sissoko left in 2001, returning to Esperance. There he played for another year, until he went through a viewing in a professional club called Toulouse. It was there that five years later, Moussa Sissoko became a professional footballer, signing a full-fledged contract with the club. From the first season, he began to play at the base, appearing on the field 36 times and scoring two goals. The midfielder spent all his youth there - for five and a half years he defended the colors of his native club. He played in 218 matches, scoring 24 goals. By the number of games for the club, Sissoko is in fourth place in history. But Mousse could not rise above, since in the winter of 2013 for a symbolic sum of two million euros he was sold to the English Newcastle.

Going to Newcastle

Moussa Sissoko is a football player who was able to fully reveal himself at Newcastle. He immediately became a base player, having gone half the season in 18 matches on the field and scoring three goals. In the next three seasons, he was a key player in the club and played a total of 133 matches, scoring 12 goals. Gradually, he began to show himself as a very strong football player, deserving more. However, Sissoko was in no hurry to leave the club, and perhaps would have stayed there if Newcastle hadn’t flown into the second league. That is why in the summer of 2016, after numerous refusals (clubs did not want to pay 35 million euros for a player, and Newcastle did not want to lower the price), Tottenham still agreed to pay the full amount of compensation.

The game for Tottenham Hotspur

Sissoko signed a contract with Tottenham until 2021. This season, the footballer has entered the field in eight games, but has not yet scored a single goal.

Team appearances

For the French national team, Sissoko made his debut in October 2009. Since then, he played 48 matches, scored one goal and gave six assists. However, he went to the first major tournament only at the age of 25 - it was the 2014 World Cup, where Moussa scored a goal against the Swiss. At the 2016 European Championships, Sissoko was a base player and did not enter the field only in a game against the national team of Albania.
