Vladimir Chemical Plant: history, description, products

OJSC Vladimir Chemical Plant is a large enterprise in the chemical industry located in the city of Vladimir. The production is focused on the manufacture of PVC cables, vinyl plastic, granular and non-plasticized sheet materials. The team has been repeatedly awarded memorable awards for labor achievements.

Vladimir Chemical Plant

Pioneer of domestic chemistry

In the early 30s, the chemical industry of the USSR was in its infancy. The country was in dire need of such seemingly simple things as plastic products, plastic films, rubber, etc. In order to make up for the deficit, the Soviet government decided to build a chemical plant for the production of synthetic resin products - neuro-leukorite.

As a site, the premises of the dyeing and finishing factory in Vladimir were identified. In the spring of 1932, the viscose workshop was launched. The first products were bottle caps. Their release allowed to reduce the purchase of expensive cork oak, purchased for currency. Also made of viscose tubes and boxes for medicines, medications, perfumes, creams and other cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. Later, the assortment expanded due to consumer goods: jewelry, buttons, cigarette cases, powder boxes, mouthpieces, billiard balls.

Cadres decide everything

Obviously, the new industry urgently needed highly qualified specialists. They had to be trained from scratch, recruiting talented youth from universities (primarily FZU) and chemical enterprises. Subsequently, the Vladimir Chemical-Mechanical College set up the training of average technical personnel.

Shortly after the start of work at the Vladimir Chemical Plant (VZhZ), its own laboratory was created, which was entrusted with an important mission to control the operation parameters of complex equipment and monitor the quality of products. The best of the best were recruited here - graduates of institutes and universities of Moscow, Leningrad, Vladimir, Ivanovo.

War

With the outbreak of hostilities, the profile of the enterprise has changed dramatically. Instead of traffic jams, boxes and trinkets, the team mastered the production of alcohol resins, which are so necessary for aircraft factories, airfields, and repair shops. Fateful can be called the organization of production of insulating materials, which today are the main products of the Vladimir Chemical Plant. Also, injection molding machines were installed at the enterprise, on which, in particular, the majority of soldier's medallions from the Second World War were made.

Mr. Vladimir

For peace

After the war, the domestic chemical industry experienced an unprecedented rise. In the 50s, the plant began production of complex vinyl-plastic products. The following workshops were commissioned:

  • on the synthesis of cellulose acetate;
  • foam extrusion;
  • ginning.

The 60s became a golden age for VCP. A radical reconstruction was carried out, affecting both structures and technological equipment. The production of vinyl plastic and faolite were transferred to a continuous work schedule. The plant in Vladimir has become one of the largest chemical enterprises in the vastness of the Soviet Union.

The 70s were marked by the expansion of the production base. Appropriate equipment was purchased in England for the manufacture of synthetic PET films and polymers. However, it is not enough to buy machines and assemblies, they had to be correctly installed, configured and organized mass production. The factory workers coped with this perfectly, and the head of the new production, Yu. V. Ryzhov, was awarded the State Prize of the USSR Council of Ministers. In parallel with the release of household films with a thickness of 6-250 microns, VZZ launched production of packaging for pharmaceuticals and food products.

Insulation materials

Among all the chemical products of the plant, the most important are cable compounds. They are intended for the manufacture of insulating coatings for electric cables. For their production, on the personal initiative of the Minister of the Chemical Industry in the 80s, the best Swiss equipment of the BUSS company was purchased at that time.

Cheap, high-quality, durable plastic compounds of the OM-40 brand showed excellent results in tests and began to be delivered to all cable plants in the country. The line has worked faithfully for more than 20 years without significant changes. In 2000, it was modernized. For outstanding achievements, the team was awarded the highest peacetime award - the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.

Time for a change

After the collapse of the USSR, the administration had to solve the difficult problem of keeping the company afloat. First of all, Vladimir Chemical Plant was corporatized. A number of unprofitable industries had to be abandoned. In order to reduce dependence on โ€œsubcontractorsโ€, a release of many materials and components previously purchased from partners was organized at VCP. In 1997, a facility for the production of nitrogen used in technological processes was launched.

By the end of the 90s, factory specialists developed new types of plastic compounds with the best characteristics: IT-105V, B3, NGP 40-32. Launched the Italian line of blood lines for medical facilities.

At the moment, not all production facilities operate on a huge factory territory. Unfortunately, the company is going through hard times. For example, in 2013 a section of polyethylene terephthalate film was stopped. It is hoped that the administration will be able to find a worthy way out of this situation.

JSC VHZ

Products

Today JSC VHZ offers partners a wide range of plastic compounds for protective shells:

  • ordinary;
  • power;
  • frost resistant;
  • without smell;
  • reduced flammability, reduced smoke emission;
  • especially thin;
  • stained;
  • injection molding;
  • leafy.

The company also manufactures unplasticized PVC, welding rods, fiberglass, materials for the production of soles, shoes, hoses, sealing elements and other products.
