"William Lawson" is a forty-degree
blended three-year-old
whiskey from the Scottish Kingdom. Since 1992, the drink has been produced under the control of Bakcardi Limited. A blend of several dozen types of alcohol is aged in barrels of sherry and bourbon. The content of
single malt whiskey in the composition of "William Lawson" reaches forty-five percent.
To match the severe masculine nature of the products and the rather thorny fate of the company, with many difficulties and hardships that William Lawson Distillers Ltd had to overcome in order to produce a strong drink for lovers of Whiskey Cola and Rob Roy cocktails today.
Brand History
The year of the appearance of whiskey “William Lawson” is considered to be 1849: it was then that its release in Scotland began. However, in those days, strong drinks from neighboring Ireland dominated the British and world markets, and there was intense competition within the country. So the first pancake of the “distillery” Lawson came out lumpy, and the enterprise had to be curtailed until the best of times that had been expected for almost a hundred years. Immediately after World War II, the production of William Lawson whiskey began again, this time away from the family’s homelands, in Liverpool, England. The choice of location was determined by the poorly developed logistics system in Scotland and the more attractive market in England. “William Lawson” was able to return to the homeland of whiskey only in 1967. Currently, the production is located in the gardens of Cotbridge.
Product line
Unlike the representative brands Jim Beam, Jameson and Ballantine's, the William Lawson line of whiskeys does not have a variety of flavors. The company introduced two types of drink for adults:
- William Lawson's Finest - the flagship of the brand; notes of baked apples and toffee are diluted with the aroma of burnt cereals; the drink has a pleasant golden color and a delicate oak finish.
- 12-year-old William Lawson's - the brand's rich golden color conceals a fruity-floral aroma, mixed with the sweetness of cream-based butterscotch; sherry barrels give the drink a deep, soft finish.

For a 12-year-old copy of William Lawson whiskey, the price is correspondingly higher: about 35 pounds (about 1800 rubles) for half a liter.
A standard blend provides a sweetish flavor with hints of fried grain. It is very popular as a digestif. Connoisseurs of pure whiskey usually prefer more expensive unbroken brands. William Lawson whiskey was based on Glen Deveron and Highland Malt malt.
Since 1972, the brand became the property of Martini. Twenty years later, as a result of the takeover, the brand became owned by Baccardi, where “William Lawson” turned out to be the third whiskey in the range along with “Dewars” and “Aberfeldy”.
The concern managed to gain a foothold in Europe. William Lawson's is especially popular in France. Also, the Scottish brand is making progress in the Russian alcohol market. In its promotions, the company is actively resorting to the services of first-rate Hollywood stars. The brand name is closely connected with mass sports, in particular with football.
