It is doubtful, of course, that ordinary users have seen such a thing as LTSB on the Internet. As it turns out, it is directly related to the Windows 10 operating system, and even on the official Microsoft site itself, as they say, is deeply conspiratorial. Why? The question is quite logical, if we take into account some of the properties of the LTSB package. What is it will be clear a little later. In the meantime, a few words of history.
Windows 10 LTSB: what does it mean?
All users who somehow installed or are going to install the tenth version of Windows, even when creating the installer using specialized Microsoft utilities, pay attention to the fact that only a few versions are available, including the useless modification of Home, Education and Pro installation, which It is worth choosing if you need to use all the features and benefits of this OS.
And then where is the LTSB? What is it? An advertising move from developers or a targeted solution for all users to install an operating system with a bunch of unnecessary functions and programs? In fact, this is the most current build of the system without any frills, not burdened by unused components of Windows, related to the version of Enterprise, which, alas, for some reason is not available in the post-Soviet space. But it is not all that bad.
LTSB: what is it in terms of assembly?
Few people know that since the first presentation and the official commissioning of Windows 10, there was one modification that was not widely advertised in wide circles. It received the name in the form of the abbreviation LTSB. What it is?
It stands for Long Term Servicing Branch, or simply put, it is one of the versions of Windows 10 with long-term maintenance. It turns out that it removes all unnecessary programs, including the Cortana voice assistant, completely does not have telemetry, and (surprisingly at all) does not have an Edge browser, instead of which the most common Internet Explorer of the latest version is presented by default.
System benefits
This is the LTSB assembly. What is this in terms of benefits? And here is what. The operating system removed all unnecessary components. That is why the load on system resources has become much lower, not to mention Internet traffic (especially when using wireless networks).
The assembly itself is based on the version of Windows 10 Enterprise, which is not available in the main installation package (even when creating external media using standard utilities) (at least for us).
But for installation, this version requires a minimum of space, does not install tracking components or sends reviews, does not activate OneDrive by default, and in general, the installer is so flexible that the user can choose the components that need to be installed. As already clear, in other versions there is no such choice as such.
Who is the assembly for?
So why did it happen that Microsoft tried to hide such a unique assembly as LTSB from ordinary users? What is this: a calculation for a certain circle of selected users or is it still a step in the direction of generating interest?
As it turned out, the assembly itself is mainly intended for small and medium-sized businesses and was initially only available in the United States. Today it can be found on the Microsoft TechNet Evaluation Center. But for access, you will need to log in with your account.
This is where the biggest catch lies. The fact is that many of those who installed the tenth version of Windows, for the most part, either do not have a Microsoft account or do not use it. You can create a registration again and install this version of the system, but no one gives a guarantee that it will not fail one day. Although the prospect looks very tempting.
But if we proceed purely from practical considerations, of course, it is precisely such a modification that every fan of Windows 10 wants to install for himself. Is it a joke? No need to disable anything, no need to configure anything. The system is delivered, as it were, ready-made. And nothing more. Take and use.
