Dalglish Kenny is the man who made history in British football. He was born in 1951, March 4, in Glasgow (Scotland). This athlete has become famous for many, and about everything it is worth at least briefly telling.

Dalglish Kenny is known primarily for playing in his entire life in only two clubs. These are Celtic and Liverpool. There he received universal recognition and, of course, numerous awards. Also Kenneth Matheson Dalgliesh (this is his full name) is a holder of the Order of the British Empire, which is also important.
In his team, he set two records: as the player who played the most matches, and also as the player who sent the most goals into the opponent’s goal.
Kenneth Matheson was recognized as the player of the year in the 1982/83 season. The same title came to him in 1979 and 1983 (this is according to the Association of Football Journalists).
It is also interesting that in 2009, Dalglish Kenny was named by FourFourTwo magazine the greatest striker in the entire post-war history of British football. And this man is capitalized in the hall of fame of English and, of course, Scottish football.
Field Player Career
Dalglish Kenny throughout his career at Celtic (and he played there from 1968 to 1977) four times became the champion of Scotland and won the Cup of the country as many times. But that is not all. Once he even managed to win the Scottish League Cup with his team.
In 1977, Bob Paisley invited a footballer to FC Liverpool. At that time, the coach set a transfer record of 440,000 pounds. But Kenneth paid off. Those years that he was part of the “Liverpool”, became for the team one of the most successful in all history. The club has won six league titles and three European Cups! But that's not all, because in addition to this, “Liverpool” received five internal trophies. For his playing style, as well as for achievements, he was given a special nickname. It sounded like that - King Kenny. Fans called Kenneth Matheson such a powerful nickname.
By the way, it was Dalglish who became the club's playing coach when Joe Fagan left. Combining the responsibilities of leader and field striker, Kenneth managed to win two FA Cups and three champion titles. But in 1991, he left the team, and a new coach, “Liverpool”.
Further activities
8 months after leaving Liverpool, Kenneth Matheson returned to the sport. He led the Blackburn Rovers FC. Thanks to Dalglish, this team won the Premier League in 1995. But after that, after some time, he left his post because he intended to become a sports director.
The final departure from the club occurred in 1996. And in January of the following, 1997, Kenneth Matheson became the head coach of FC Newcastle. Under his leadership, the team took second place in the Premier League ranking and even reached the final of the FA Cup. However, the next season, “Newcastle” failed. He took only 13th place. After two games the following season, Dalglish was fired. But such a professional could not sit idle for a long time, because he was invited by the sports director to Celtic. He accepted the offer, but still began to train football players in Scotland. So from a sports director, he turned into a head coach.
Charity and Return to Liverpool
For ten years, starting in 2000, Dalglish conducted charity work. He and his wife organized a foundation called The Marina Dalglish Appeal. This organization was aimed at raising funds for the treatment of people with cancer. Its activities continued until 2010.
Then the football player became interested in FC Liverpool. The fact is that the leadership then fired Roy Hodgson, but because the team needed a new head coach. They were appointed Dalglish. The contract was signed in 2011, May 12. The Liverpool coach is back, but not for long. In theory, Kenneth Matheson was supposed to train the team until 2013, but due to the fact that the 2011/12 season was very deplorable in terms of results, he was fired. 14 defeats, 14 wins and 10 draws - it seemed to management insufficient. And despite the fact that Dalgliesh led the team to victory in the League Cup and brought “Liverpool” to the final of the FA Cup, he was dismissed.

Dalglish was a really strong player. Together with Celtic, he won the Scottish Championship four times: three times in a row (from 1972 to 1974), and one in 1977. He also won the Scottish Cup (also four times). And of course, the Kenny League Cup also won.
With “Liverpool” there were six victories in the Premier League, three in the European Cup, as well as the FA Cup in 1986. In addition, Kenny and the team won the League Cup four times and the Super Bowl of England five times. But that is not all. One of the most significant awards is the 1977 European Super Cup.
As a coach, he also has many awards. He led Liverpool to victory in the Championship of England three times. Twice they won the FA Cup, and four times the Super Bowl. And finally, in 2012, the main trophy of the team was the League Cup.
And the “Blackburn Rovers” Dalglish led to the victory in the Championship of England. And in 2000, he brought FC Celtic to victory in the League Cup.
Personal achievements
