Chickens Ayam Cemani: breed history
The ancestors of agricultural birds of this breed in the wild live in Indonesia. Most wild hens with black meat live in Central Java, near the town of Solo. Initially, the breed that preceded the ayah cementi was once bred by local farmers.
Such black hens were subsequently exported from Indonesia to many countries of the Asian region. At the same time, they became the most popular in China, where on their basis a more productive breed of ayam cementi was bred.
Such hens came to Europe only at the end of the last century - in 1998. At that time, the breeder Steverink became interested in this unusual bird. This specialist brought several ayam cemani from China to his homeland - to Holland. Later, such chickens were also bred in Slovakia, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Germany. Today, some Russian farmers also keep ayam cementi.
General description of chickens
The unusual color of meat in ayam cemeni is explained primarily by a mutation of the dominant EDN3 gene, which is responsible for pigmentation. In addition to the actually unusual color of carcasses, the hallmarks of this breed of chickens are:
- completely black eyes, plumage, earrings and comb;
- shortened beak in deep black;
- dark gray color of legs;
- compact trapezoidal body;
- close-fitting wings.
The males of this breed, among other things, are also owners of very magnificent tails with noticeable elongated braids.
The standards of this breed of chicken with black meat completely exclude white color from the color. If the jury, for example, at the exhibition, notices a white speck even at least at the tip of the tongue ayam cementi, the individual will immediately be disqualified. It is recommended to use individuals with the most saturated glossy color as producers in this breed. Chickens in chickens of this breed also hatch with black down.

For a year, one such hen can lay up to 100-120 eggs. At the same time, ayam cemeni are simply wonderful mother hens and mothers. In any case, the survival rate of young animals in this breed is as much as 95-100%.
The egg sizes of black hens with black meat are not too large. Their maximum weight is 50 g. The color of the eggs of ayam cementi is not black, but pale pink. As with ordinary chickens, several hens can lay their eggs in one nest in ayam cemeani.
Content Features and Character

This bird is usually kept on an outdoor basis, equipping perches in the shed and setting nests next to them. Ceami include corn, bran, and vegetable mixers in ayamani diets. The peculiarity of this breed is primarily that, in fact, the Chinese did not derive it at all. These hens were simply found by the inhabitants of the Middle Kingdom in the wild in the 80s of the last century. It was completely by chance that the peasants discovered two such layers and one cockerel in the mountains of one of the Chinese provinces isolated from civilization.
Later, these hens were imported, including to Europe. Of course, some domestic farmers became interested in this breed.
General description of the breed

From Chinese, the name of these chickens is "Uhayilui" translated as "five black and one green." This is due primarily to the appearance of the breed. The eggs of Uheilui chickens are green. Moreover, they have five black parts of the body: feathers, comb, bones, skin and meat.
The carcasses of these hens with black meat are quite neat and have a completely marketable appearance. In addition to the black color of all parts of the body, the features of this breed include:
- glossy green shimmer in plumage;
- V-shaped body;
- light skeleton;
- powerful breasts;
- powerful wings;
- magnificent tail at the cockerels.
A feature of this breed of chickens is, among other things, that they can fly well. Another notable characteristic of Uhayilui is its dense plumage, under which there is also quite thick fluff.
Breed productivity indicators
Like ayam cemeni, they don’t grow too big. The weight of the cockerels of this breed is 1.8-2 kg. Chickens in most cases have a weight of 1.5 kg. Laying eggs of this breed lay a little more than ayami cementi - about 180 pieces per year.
The instinct of hens in this breed of black hens with black meat is developed just fine. Like ayam cemani, uhayiliuy are often able to preserve all their offspring. This breed, among other things, has one interesting feature. Hatch eggs can not only hoots, but also males.
Care
