Career as a player was short-lived: from 1970 to 1977, the future coach played for the understudies of Lviv “Carpathians”, as well as for SKA, “Spartak” (Ordzhonikidze) and Lutsk “Torpedo”.

Miron Markevich biography

After the end of his playing career, Miron Markevich was not going to part with football. Having received the necessary education at the Lviv Institute of Physical Culture and at the Higher School of Trainers, in 1983 he began to work as a mentor for young athletes.

Coaching career

Having started his coaching career at FC Volyn (Lutsk), Miron Markevich managed to work with two other Ukrainian teams for nine years - Podillya (Khmelnitsky) and Krivbass (Kryvyi Rih).

In 1992, he became the head coach of his native club Karpaty (Lviv). Here he works for four seasons. Despite the stable game of the Lviv team, after the end of the 1995/1996 season he was fired due to the lack of significant progress.

After working for a year again in the “Podillia” and “Krivbass”, Miron Markevich again received an invitation to become a coach of the “Carpathians”. In his own club, the mentor worked with a two-year break until 2002.

At this time, the life of Miron Markevich can not be called easy and carefree. First, he is very difficult to endure the death of his father, then makes an unsuccessful attempt to gain a foothold in the role of head coach of the Makhachkala “Anji”, and then generally becomes a victim of kidnapping for ransom. But, fortunately, everything worked out well, and Miron Markevich began his career practically from scratch.

After working again for two years in the “Carpathians”, the coach accepted the invitation to become a mentor in Kharkov “Metalist”. It was here that the talent of Miron Markevich was revealed.

For 10 years, from a mediocre team, Metalist has become one of the grandees of Ukrainian football. This club was respected and feared by rivals not only in the domestic championship, but also in European competitions. The 2012/2013 season was triumphant, when the Kharkov team managed to intervene in the dispute between Dynamo and Shakhtar for leadership and sensationally took the final second place.
