Moreover, even those of our people who have never used this drink, still know: Cuba is in reality the officially unrecognized world capital of this alcoholic creation. The subtleties of production
For eight decades, the technology for creating the described alcoholic beverage remains the same. It is worth noting that due to his own sweetness in his homeland, it is considered to some extent alcohol for women and is sometimes referred to as a “rum drink”.
Rum "Legendario", the history of which will be given below, is as follows. Initially, it is distilled according to the traditional recipes of Cuban experts from molasses, which contains an offal of sugar production and molasses. After that, the future alcohol-containing product for a rather long period of time - 7 years - is aged in oak barrels exclusively by the American manufacturer. Then distilled water, as well as raisins, are necessarily added to Legendario rum. The resulting mixture is insisted for a month. The distillery was created in 1878 in a very old building on Havana Cerro Avenue. She changed her master more than once. Then, in the middle of the 20th century, the building passed into the possession of the company from Puerto Rico Trigo Hermanos, Inc. And new producers launched the release of Bocoy rum. However, already in 1946, the company's blending masters managed to create another alcoholic nectar - Legendario rum.
The very first variety of this drink was Elixir de Cuba. And although it consists entirely of very high-quality rum spirits, the legislation of the Caribbean does not consider it to be a rum from a small fortress equal to 34%.
Initially, the company did not plan to send the created drink for export, but Legendario rum became so popular, despite its reputation as a female drink, that it was already produced in large volumes, and blending specialists focused on creating a whole line of products of this brand.
Continued development
In 1959, after the revolution, all the distilleries of Cuba were nationalized, including Fabrica de Ron Bocoy, where the described rum is created. The ancient distillery, together with all its copper alambiks, strong oak barrels and the complete absence of any mechanization, was transformed into an interactive Museum of Roma.
