Pre-revolutionary history of the plant
Moscow Locomotive Repair Plant was founded in 1900. Construction in Perov began due to the fact that three railways intersected in the town - Okruzhnaya, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod. The rolling stock gradually grew old, passenger and freight cars periodically broke. To solve all arising problems, centralized workshops for current repairs were required, located near the capital. Until 1917, the company belonged to one owner - von Mecca, he also owned the Moscow-Ryazan Railway. From 1900 to 1905, all the necessary work was carried out in 4 workshops - mechanical, blacksmithing, woodworking, and commodity.

New time

In 1928, the company employed more than 1,700 people. Since 1929, the production of electric trains began in Russia, railway workers switched to electric traction. Two years later, the company began preparations for organizing the material base for repairs of electric locomotives. The first model of equipment to be repaired was an experimental locomotive of the VL19-01 brand, later the plant's capabilities expanded significantly, and restoration of the VL-8 and VL-23 electric locomotives was mastered.
In addition to repair activities, the Moscow Locomotive Repair Plant produced specialized railway equipment - assembly trains, switchgear sets, traction mobile power plants and ice factories, experimental equipment and much more. In 1976, the company was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor for excellence.
Modernity
With the onset of a period of economic reform, the enterprise needed transformations. In May 2001, Moscow Locomotive Repair Plant OJSC was established on the basis of an existing state-owned company, the founders of which were Russian Railways OJSC and the non-profit organization Center for Organizational Support for Railway Structural Reform.
