Undoubtedly, the majority of users of modern smartphones or tablets, offering quite wide opportunities for communication, have met with programs like Caller ID. They are sometimes called ID-Caller. What is it and how to work with such programs, and now we will discuss. In addition to considering the basic technologies, we will try to give a couple of simple tips on using this type of software.
Caller ID (ID-Caller): what is it?
Before talking about the most “android” application, you should talk a little about the technology that is used in this case.
If you look at the decoding of the term ID-Caller itself, what is it, it is not difficult to understand. In principle, this combination can be translated as “Caller ID or Caller ID”. Some might think that this is the easiest number determination system. This is not true. Here completely different technologies are applied.
How did it all begin and how does it work?
The initial idea for creating such a technology belongs to Caroline A. Doughty. The very new development at that time was part of the Telcos program, which tried to profit from the provision of services for subscribers to identify and identify incoming calls.
Without going into technical aspects, it can be noted that today there are two types of technologies for which any software called ID-Caller works. What is it, try to figure it out. But both of them involve sending and receiving data in a fixed period of time.
The generally accepted Caller ID standard is to return a call with the caller’s number, date and time of the call, or an error in case of failure. The second option (advanced) sends the so-called directory data, but without specifying a subscriber number.
In this regard, with the introduction of such technology around the world in 1995, a logical question arose about violating the confidentiality of telephone conversations and violating human rights. However, in 1987, still raw technology was tested by the Bell telephone company in New Jersey.
Caller ID / Caller ID: what is the difference?
Some users of so-called “dialers” are convinced that determining the number of the caller in the network of the mobile operator and the subscriber in the standard telephone network is one and the same. Nothing like this!
Caller ID (automatic identification in standard telephone networks) determines the number only after connecting to the subscriber. That is, when long beeps are heard in the handset, it’s just a props. They are generated by the phone itself (by the way, and the call is already paid).
In the case of Caller ID, identification is made even before the connection while waiting for a call from the incoming side. Simply put, first the contact is initialized at the connection level, and then the subscriber is given the choice: to accept the call or not.
If the identifier does not determine anything by registered networks or the phone book, only the number is issued (often with the location of the caller).
Some misconceptions regarding Caller ID applications
Now we turn directly to applications designed specifically for the Android operating system, which can be installed and used to work on smartphones or tablets. One of the most famous, for example, is Big Caller ID.
But far from all users are clearly aware of the capabilities of programs of this type, believing that they are intended only to display a picture or photograph of the caller at the time of the call. Partly the way it is. But the Big Caller ID application, however, like other programs of this level, is capable of more.
A simple example: the user on the phone does not have a photo of a friend. How to put a photo on an incoming call? Yes, there is nothing easier! It is enough to synchronize your contacts with any social network where the user has registration, log in using your account, after which the “avatars” from the social network will automatically be redirected to the mobile device when you call friends from the list.
Caller ID features when installed on mobile gadgets
No less interesting is a small utility called HD Caller ID. Not to mention the main package of functions, which is standard for most applications of this kind, it is especially worth noting that the main engine of the utility is designed to automatically stretch the caller’s photo during an incoming call on a full screen when making a call.
Note: it doesn’t matter at all what display diagonal and what resolution. The program itself determines the set parameters, compares the picture for compliance and, if necessary, adjusts it to the current screen characteristics. In addition, as the name implies, the image is displayed on the screen in HD (High Definition) mode.

Programs for a smartphone in this area, working, for example, running Android OS, are very popular and quite common. Actually, the Play Market service offers quite a few options. However, we note the most popular.

In addition to standard functions, it is able to change the interface of a smartphone or an installed launcher. At the same time, when you have to accept a call, there is no need to use slide-scroll from left to right. The application sets a single button, by tapping on which, you can receive an incoming call.
No less “advanced” can be called the Ultimate Call Screen HD program. Its main “trick” is the cancellation of an incoming call by simply flipping the smartphone screen down.
On the other hand, almost all applications are able to block unwanted calls and create “black lists”, as well as reject spam in the form of SMS messages and even change the style of receiving a call.
Instead of an afterword
In general, as is already clear, programs called Caller IDs for Android are quite common. However, the majority of users or owners of devices based on this operating system (however, and not only it) for the most part clearly underestimate all the features of the applications, being content only with the appearance of a picture or photo of the caller on the screen at the time of the call.
The maximum that beginners are capable of is blocking calls and creating lists of potential unwanted subscribers. But what absolutely no one thinks about is the filtering function of the same SMS messages for spam or advertising. But in vain. Some applications allow you to disable even operator push notifications. And this is a lot.
Well, there’s no need to talk about the fact that there is synchronization with social networks. After all, you will not be storing a bunch of photographs on the phone with a small amount of internal memory or card memory? They are downloaded from networks automatically, creating at best only an icon (thumbnail), which takes up absolute minimum space on the drive. Actually, the use of such applications in most cases comes down to almost complete automation, well, except that you have to set the prohibitions manually or select photos on the networks, although this is not necessary with the specified mobile number of a friend or girlfriend.
