Sebastian Dysler: biography, sports career

At the beginning of zero German talents, there were quite a few, and they all showed extraordinary football. One of these ascending geniuses was Sebastian Dysler, a young right-wing midfielder who hit all the experts. He was promised a great future, and the transition to the largest club in Germany - Bayern Munich - only confirmed the fact that the player deserved special attention. However, why has his name not survived to this day? Why is nobody practically hearing about him? The fact that Sebastian Dysler is an example of how a football career can go downhill due to injuries. If you do not know the history of this incredibly talented player, then this article will shed light on it for you.

The beginning of a career in Borussia

Sebastian Dysler

Sebastian Daisler began his career in the Borussia Monchengladbach, but it is worth noting that before that he had gone through several football schools and arrived in Monchengladbach only at the age of fifteen. Three years later, he entered into his first professional contract with the club and began to gain a place in the first team. Deisler's star was so bright that it immediately attracted the attention of other clubs. Given the fact that in “Borussia” he was able to play only in 19 matches, Sebastian was pleased with the offer from the Berlin “Hertha”, which came next summer. The Berlin club paid two million euros for young talent, and it was here that Sebastian Deisler revealed himself best. It is worth taking a look at his road to success in more detail.

Go to Hertha

At the time of the beginning of zero, Hertha was far from being the strongest team in Germany, but still quite strong, capable of imposing a fight even on powerful opponents. And for Daisler there were excellent conditions, since Borussia (Mönchengladbach) could not provide the young talent with a permanent place at the base, while the Berlin club offered him exactly that. Already in its first season, the 19-year-old boy played 29 matches in all competitions (including eight at the European level), scoring two goals. Everyone saw that this midfielder could become the new legend of German football. “Borussia” (Mönchengladbach) at that time most likely regretted his mistake, but Dysler was definitely happy because he was getting constant game practice. Moreover, he was called up to the German national team, for which he made his debut in a friendly match against the Dutch national team. Then he played in two more friendly matches and surprised everyone to be included in the application for the 2000 European Championship. Even more surprise appeared on the faces of the fans when he came on as a substitute in the first match of the group stage, and in the remaining two he played in the first team. Of course, that championship the German team failed and flew out at the group stage, but even then it became clear that Daisler was a player with a great future.

Second season in Berlin

The following year, Daisler demonstrated even better football. Germany loved players who were able to show something that no one else had before them. Sebastian improved his performance, and in his second season for “Hertha” played as many matches as in the first, but scored four goals - to say nothing of his general usefulness for the club. The midfielder, of course, was just starting to form, he had a lot in front of him that he had to learn. In the national team, things turned out just fine with him - he played in five of six qualifying matches for the 2002 World Cup, as well as in several friendly matches, demonstrating breathtaking football. Germany has long been waiting for such an athlete and had high hopes for the young midfielder.

Beginning of the End

The third season in Hertha, Daisler Sebastian, a football player whose name increasingly began to appear in the headlines of German magazines, started on a major note. Until October, he played excellently for the Berlin club, having spent thirteen matches and scoring three goals in them. He even took part in two qualifying matches with the national team, but then he was overtaken by a serious knee injury, which disabled him almost until the very end of the season. As a result, he returned only closer to summer to play several matches for the Berlin club, as well as take part in three friendly games for the national team. He did not participate in the 2002 World Cup because of his injury, but attracted a lot of attention by signing a contract with Germany’s strongest club, Bayern Munich, which paid nine million euros for him. This provoked the outrage of the Hertha fans, but Sebastian Deisler, whose goals pleased the eyes of every football fan around the world, went up.

Going to Bavaria

However, what received instead of a brilliant career in the strongest club in Germany, Sebastian Deisler? The player’s biography from that moment began to take shape just awfully. He still suffered from the consequences of his injury, so he could not gain a foothold in the main team of the new team, which had great hopes for him. Moreover, relapses did not allow him to play - for the whole year he spent only ten matches in which he did not distinguish himself with practically no useful actions. Also, he was never called to the national team, so it was obvious that in the career development of the young talent there was definitely a turn in the wrong direction. Sebastian Dysler, whose injury made it impossible to show himself from the best side, did not despair - he wanted to recover as soon as possible and continue his ascent. However, unfortunately, this was not destined to happen.

Psychological breakdown

In the second season at Bayern, Daisler played only fourteen matches, in which he scored four goals. Everyone could see that the player was incredibly upscale, but he again suffered a serious knee injury, and due to constant pressure on the young midfielder, he suffered a nervous breakdown, he was plunged into depression, from which he was treated in a local clinic. All this did not allow him to open up and show himself. For the national team, he also played only one friendly match.

New Hope

In 2004, Daisler gradually began to normalize. Naturally, he did not go to the European Championship 2004, but the new season began quite cheerfully. Over the whole year, he entered the field in 32 games and hit the opponent’s goal four times. Everyone has already begun to hope that the player will get out, and soon the long-awaited center field star will finally appear in Bavaria and the German team.

Recurrence of injury

Sebastian Dysler Biography

In 2005, Bayern midfielder Michael Ballack left for England, signing a contract with Chelsea, and many thought that it was the 25-year-old Deisler who would be a worthy replacement, and the start of the season was more than successful. Sebastian played 25 matches in which he scored three goals, but in March 2006 he again injured the same knee and dropped out of the game for a long time. Because of this, he could not only help Bayern Munich in the championship, but also did not go to the long-awaited 2006 World Cup.

Last season

In the fall of 2006, Daisler recovered from his injury, but returned to the field in terrible condition. It was actually broken not only physically, but also psychologically. Having played only five matches for Bayern, Sebastian made a very difficult decision - in the winter of 2007 he announced that he was completing a player’s career and would no longer play for the club or for the German national team. This is how the story of an incredibly talented German ended up sadly, who was prophesied a great future and world fame - but his knee failed him, and then the guy could not stand the psychological load either. Daisler had two more years of the contract with Bayern, and the club, out of respect for the player, did not break the agreement, until 2009 paying Sebastian's salary.

Trophies

During his rather short career, Sebastian Dysler still won several trophies - mainly for his last club, Bayern Munich. In 2002, right before moving to a new team, he became the owner of the German Cup with the Berlin Hertha. Together with Bayern, he became the German champion three times, won the German Cup three times, and also managed to win the League Cup once. As for his career in the national team, he was no longer so lucky here - Deisler can only boast of getting into the finals of the 1998 European Youth Championship, as well as a bronze medal of the Confederations Cup 2005. Who knows - perhaps, if circumstances had turned out differently, Daisler would have become a legend not only of his club, but of all German football. Unfortunately, fate decreed otherwise.
