Extrovert and Introvert

Extroversion: Definition

The definition of this term may seem unexpected for people who are new to psychology. So, extroversion is the focus of attention outside. This is not only about a person who has an extroverted character (temperament, psychotype), but about attention as such. For example, introverts also know how to extrovert their attention, otherwise they would simply not be able to survive in this world.

Features of extraverted attention

Extraverted attention is characterized by its focus on the objects of the outside world, people, the surrounding space. If introvert attention can be associated with such things as internal dialogue, constant reflection and thoughtfulness ("floating in the clouds"), then when it is extroverted, a person’s gaze and thoughts immediately begin to “cling” to everything that surrounds him. He becomes collected, active, active. It is necessary to maintain extraverted attention in any profession in which mindfulness, focus on external objects, composure and sociability are important. Tamada, PR manager, athlete are extroverted professions that require constant “inclusion” of a person in the surrounding reality.

Extroverted and Introverted Personality

Extroverted character

People with this character are called extroverts. Their attention is almost always focused on the outside world, people, environment, material objects. Such people have a lively moving gaze, rich facial expressions, fast gait. They are more likely figures than thinkers. Sometimes they lack self-understanding and depth of feelings, thoughts, because their intelligence is not reflexive, has a purely practical and communicative orientation.

Such people make wonderful pop artists, athletes and speakers, but useless thinkers, intellectuals, legislators. Such is their social niche. However, it is worth noting that this is not about extroverts as such, but about people with an extremely extroverted character, literally living in the outside world and completely forgetting about the inner world. Excessive extroversion, as well as excessive introversion, is a deviation from the norm.
