Who is not familiar with the magical tales of P.P. Bazhov, glorifying the beauty of the Ural nature and the secrets of the emergence of amazing crafts associated with the establishment of iron and steel production in the vast territory that the Ural region occupies today?
The creation of the unique Bazhov Places park, initiated by the regional Government in 2007, is designed to preserve a small part of these amazingly beautiful Ural
natural complexes located within it. The magnificent natural park and how to get to the "Bazhovsky places" will be discussed in this article.
In memory of P.P. Bazhov
The protected lands of the natural park are the best natural monument to the world famous Ural writer Pavel Petrovich Bazhov, who glorified his native land and the talented people who once lived here. The most fascinating tales of the writer were born in these places - the Sysert mountain district. Probably, the Ural nature itself, majestic and calm, acted as a co-author of Bazhov.
Geographic location
The Bazhovskiye Mesty Park (Sverdlovsk Region) is located in the picturesque valley of the Sysert River, which laid its channel among hills interspersed with low mountains, since the vast majority of the lands of the natural complex are located within the middle massif composed of ancient rocks. These places are generous in deposits of minerals and semiprecious stones, therefore, there are objects of exploration in the territory .
The lands of the forest fund of the Federal State Institution “Sysert Forestry” included in the park unite several forestries (Sysert, Schelkunsky, Verkhnesysert) on an area of almost forty thousand hectares. Urban and rural settlements within the protected zone of the park are not located, the only exception is the village of Verkhnyaya Sysert, located in the protected zone.
Flora
The vegetation of the park, formed under the influence of climatic features, geographical location, topography and rock composition, is very diverse.
Although the main species that make up the region’s forests are pine and birch, other trees are also found in the park: larch, small-leaved linden, alder, spruce and fir, common in the Ural forests. Pine forests with grass cover occupy the central areas of the Bazhovskiye Mesti park, as well as the western and northeastern sectors.
Along the eastern border of the park zone stretched a wide strip of deciduous forests with a predominance of birch and aspen. The western border of the park is characterized by mixed coniferous-deciduous forests that turn into birch groves, and in the south the forest turns into a forest-steppe.
Park Attractions
The uniqueness of the complex creates a number of amazing historical and natural objects:
- The rock and Lake Talc Stone, formed on the site of an abandoned mine where talc was mined. This lake is a beautiful place, perfect for relaxation, located 5 km west of Sysert.
- Markov stone is a rock located on a mountain 413 m high. Archaeologists claim that once in ancient times people lived here, and an observatory was located at this place.
- Mount Azov, 588 m high, often mentioned in the tales of Bazhov, is famous for the unique finds of the most ancient copper and bronze objects of cultural life and idols, whose origin dates back to the 4th-2nd centuries. BC e. Artifacts are stored in the museums of Yekaterinburg. This is not a complete list of interesting places in the complex.

The status of the Bazhovskiye Mesty park implies a special nature management regime: the territory is periodically patrolled by inspectors, employees work to preserve the number and increase various representatives of flora and fauna. This is a special task of the park along with the development of ecologically cultural and educational tourism. The administration of the park offers horse, walking and snowmobile excursions, hiking of various lengths along several routes and other exciting events.
