Modern university "hut-reading room"
The SUSU library was opened in 1943 and has become an important component of the educational and scientific process. The area of the library is 7 thousand m2. It has two branches in the metropolis and five in provincial cities. This is the largest NB in the Urals and in Chelyabinsk. The SUSU Scientific Library has unrivaled print collections. Among them are rare books of the two previous centuries, modern fiction, reference, educational and scientific literature.
Electronic documents have also been submitted - millions of newspapers, magazines, books, audio and video recordings. The library "Polytechnic" has an impressive team of employees. Thanks to them and the Director of the SUSU Scientific Library Svetlana Gennadyevna Smolina, the institution took a worthy place in the Library Association of the Russian Federation, the Assembly of Eurasian Libraries, and since 1976 headed the Methodological Association of Scientific Libraries of the Chelyabinsk Province.
Library structure and service
SB SUSU is located in the main building of the university (on the first and ground floors) and in the 4-storey library building No. 3D. In the scientific library of SUSU there are 4 subscriptions: fiction, social and humanitarian, technical and natural sciences, as well as a subscription for part-time students.
In addition to the registration and accounting department and internal administrative units, the following halls work:

The cultural and educational activity of the SUSU scientific library is to conduct seminars, trainings, lectures for all participants in education. Information is often conducted through the official website and social networks. Classes are organized annually: for freshmen - on information culture; for third-year students - by industry bibliography; for teachers and professors - on working with databases.
The priority of subscribers to the group of NB SUSU “VKontakte” is acquaintance with interesting facts related to the library, novelties of literature, news. Book trailers, quizzes and contests, photo albums, open readings, and “posts” of other libraries are popular with students. A very popular new form of work is quests. New horizons open for potential readers. Participants in the games are in the office, see the "wealth" of the bookstores, long rows of shelves, library elevators and much more. One of the last quests was the Great Library quest, compiled based on the work of Metro 2033, by D. Glukhovsky. The idea was large-scale and exciting, the quest consisted of six games. The event caused a storm of positive feedback from participants, especially newcomers.
The library often becomes the basis for symposia, conferences and other "gatherings." But it always remains a place where exhibitions are held, evenings of meetings where young people can spend cultural time in an environment surrounded by books, records and discs. After all, everything has been done for the convenience of readers - beautiful, rational and modern!
