The Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District was formed in 1930 and is included in the Tyumen region of the Ural Federal District. There are quite severe climatic conditions. It is divided into three bands:
There are many swamps, bays, lakes and rivers on the territory, the Kara Sea is near, the duration of winter is about 8 months. Summer is very short and may be accompanied by a small cover of snow. In winter, the degree column can drop to β55, and in summer rise to +30.
Administrative divisions and population
536,049 people live in the okrug (Rosstat data as of the beginning of the current year). The population here is quite βmotleyβ. Russian - about 62%, Nenets - about 6%, Khanty - 1.9% and other nationalities.
There are 55 municipalities in the district. One of the points with a population of more than 5 thousand people is Pangody (Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug).
The history of the village
Pangody is a relatively βyoungβ settlement formed in 1971. Located on the banks of the river Right Hitt.
In 1976, the village was officially registered with subordination to the Nadym district. This year a village council was formed, the borders were fixed.
Settlement and development of the settlement is associated with the discovery and start of development of the first gas field Medvezhye. Then the construction of the Nadym-Punga and Nadym-Center gas pipelines began. Active gas production already in 1979 allowed the settlement to be given the status of "worker".
Later, railways were laid, in the Pangody village of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Medvezhye Airport operates, but provides exclusively local transportation.
In 2008, a section of the Pangody-Pravokhettynsky highway was opened as part of the Surgut-Salekhard highway.
By the way, in 2005 the question was raised about assigning the status of a city to a village, but so far it is just a village in which 10 737 people live (statistics 2017).
Climatic picture
Despite possible sharp temperature differences in the region, the weather in Pangoda of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is quite stable, with an average annual temperature of -10 degrees. On average, in winter the temperature reaches β26 degrees, and in summer it very rarely rises above +20 degrees. In May, -2 can still be observed, and in October the temperature is already at zero, and at night to β5.
Disaster 2016
Nevertheless, in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in 2016 an abnormal heat was observed. During the day, the thermometer reached almost +38 degrees. Such an abnormal hot and dry year has not been observed since 1999. But even then the temperature reached only +26 degrees and lasted only 7 days.
The heat of 2016 lasted more than a month. Even near the Kara Sea, on the shores, the temperature was +33. As a result, fires began. Caustic smoke covered many settlements, including Pangoda. As always, the local authorities distinguished themselves, instead of doing something so that the health of citizens did not suffer, they simply shot street video cameras to prevent the information from reaching the capital of the country.
After some time, the weather returned to normal. In the village of Pangody, the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the temperature regime normal for this season was +5 ... + 15 degrees.
Caring for the younger generation
In the village of Pangody, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, today there are 3 kindergartens. A preschool institution called the Golden Cockerel was founded back in 1987 and can accept 256 children. Kindergarten Ladushki, which opened its doors in 1985, can accept 80 children.
In September 2017, another institution was opened under the name "Dream". The educational institution was built at the expense of Gazprom dobycha Nadym. This is a three-story building, designed for 190 children aged 1 to 7 years. The main feature of "Dreams" is the presence of a swimming pool, a winter garden and speleocameras.
Interesting routes in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug
In January of this year, an expedition was organized on the Gydansky Peninsula and the Yamal Peninsula on dog teams and snowmobile equipment. The first route that runs along the Yamal Peninsula with stopping points: Yangelny settlement - Pravokhettensky settlement - Pangody settlement - Novy Urengoy settlement was created to solve several problems:
- testing equipment made for driving on snow;
- verification of fuel consumption and compliance of manufacturer data with real ones;
- the popularization of winter tourism;
- development of dog breeding;
- inspection of equipment for the expedition;
- development of skills, verification of planned and actual data on speed and time.
Despite careful preparation, the expedition did not take place, it was not even possible to get to the village of Pangody, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. This happened for a simple reason - the weather conditions turned out to be too severe, with which the equipment could not even cope. However, the participants clearly stated that the expedition did not close, but only was not suspended for some time. The team is finalizing motorized towing in order to get back on the route in the near future. Therefore, while winter excursions to Pangody of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug can be forgotten.
But this is only an isolated case when the expedition to the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District was unsuccessful, so there is hope that soon there will be excursion routes for ordinary and unprepared for harsh conditions people.
What else to see
There is something to see here. After all, this is the fourth largest peninsula in the Russian Federation. From here you can bring a huge number of unique photos. Pangody of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug borders on the Nadym State Nature Reserve. And this is an opportunity to get acquainted with the tundra and forest-tundra. There are rare ash dunes for our region, although the territory is represented mainly by permafrost and marshy plains. Grayling, lenok, burbot and sturgeon are found in rivers and lakes. In the tundra you can find wolverines, wolves, lemmings, brown bears and, of course, reindeer.
