The middle market is one of the most famous markets in Nizhny Novgorod. It is located in the historical part of the city near the largest shopping centers, famous for not only folk goods, but also the most delicious shawarma. A bit of history
Despite the modern style, the Middle Market in Nizhny Novgorod still retains urban traditions. The local flavor is also preserved. The name, according to a common version, was chosen in honor of Wednesday - Market Day. The market began to work at the end of the 19th century on the site of the current Gorky Square. After her beautification was transferred to Belinsky Street.
Lively trade here took place year-round, and horse fairs were held in winter. The average market in Nizhny Novgorod became a gathering place for horse lovers, where they held competitions, tried animals for agility.
In Soviet times, representatives of different countries gathered at the bazaar: Ukraine, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus and others to present their goods to residents of the city. Now the market has retained its historical place and name, it only has a modern style.
