Historical reference

The roots of the Moscow Helicopter Plant. M.L. Milya leads to a small design bureau, created in 1947 by the brilliant aircraft designer Mil. From the mid-40s, the first Soviet helicopter was developed in the design bureau, but the command was skeptical of the new technology. Helicopter production was constantly delayed.

The situation has changed dramatically after the successful use of the Sikorsky helicopters in the Korean conflict by the American army. Tests of the Soviet prototype GM-1 (later renamed Mi-1) showed its performance. In 1951, the government took a bold step - it provided plant No. 3 to Mikhail Leontyevich’s introduction, located in Sokolniki, Moscow Region.

After transferring the Mi-1 to serial production at the aviation enterprises of the USSR and Poland, the design bureau was instructed to design and manufacture prototype flight models of the first Soviet aircraft for transporting troops and cargo. For these purposes, the workshops were rebuilt, the machine and technology park were updated. In 1953, the company received a new GAZ number 329, and in 1967 it was renamed the MVZ (Moscow Helicopter Plant).

In 1960, to design a large family of helicopters, the company needed to expand its capacity. On the territory of a wood warehouse located in the village of Panki, a production and laboratory base was built. The OKB itself, laboratories, pilot production, and housing were built here. Miles died on 01/31/1970. His name was given to the Moscow Helicopter Plant.

By the end of the 70s, a new design office on Sokolnichy shaft was completed. The perestroika years, which took place under the banner of military and political detente, are characterized by a decrease in the financing of defense enterprises. The cost center was forced to freeze a number of unique projects. In 1993, the plant was incorporated.

Today, the company carries out a huge range of work. In particular, these include extending the life cycle of a helicopter, repair and restoration work, engineering and technical support for operation, and upgrading the equipment of helicopters.

Production

The modern territory of the Moscow Mil Helicopter Plant named after M. L. Mil is located on the edge of Sokolniki Park and is cut in half by the Third Ring Road. In its place a hundred years ago there was an undeveloped marshland along which the Rybinka River flowed. For several centuries, the area was considered one of the most remote outlying corners of Moscow and has not been built up for a long time.

The main production and design facilities are located at: 140070, Moscow region, Lyubertsy district, pos. Tomilino, st. Garshina-26/1. In addition to the territory in Sokolniki, the cost center has a pilot production and ground-based test complex in Panki and a flight test complex located at the Bear Lakes airfield.

Moscow Helicopter Plant named after M.L. Mil provides:

  • Research, research and development activities.
