Calibration and verification marks are technical devices whose main purpose is to leave a stamp on a suitable metrological measuring device, some additional equipment, or on some technical documentation.
Why are they stigmatized?
The purpose of applying the calibration mark is:
- The certificate that the proven metrological measuring instruments and devices have the necessary technical characteristics that are prescribed by them according to their GOST.
- Note exceptions when it is necessary to access measuring instruments to control devices.
- It is used for sealing devices, equipment or measuring instruments, which for some reason are not suitable for further use.
- Also used to nullify the previous mark. To do this, use special annihilating brands.
It is also important to note that when applying the calibration mark, its print should be very clear, and it is also important to ensure that it remains on the device for the entire period during which this measuring device is allowed to be used.
Application Methods and Information
Currently, there are several methods that are used to stamp the measuring instruments.
- The first application method is percussion.
- The second method of application is based on the pressure exerted on the seal, or by applying a special substance - mastic.
- The third method is applying the mark with a decal sticker.
- The fourth method for applying the calibration mark is electrographic.
- There are also electrochemical and other methods of applying a mark to a device or documentation.
Each stamp contains the following information:
- Sign K is used to identify the mark in the Russian calibration system.
- Next is a conditional cipher of the calibration mark, which carries information about the accrediting body that applied this mark.
- The last two digits of the year in which the mark was applied must be indicated.
- The last thing that contains the stigma is the individual sign of the calibrator.
PR brand calibration
These postulates establish the rules for storing, manufacturing, extinguishing, applying the mark, which are used by the metrological services of legal entities that have the right, that is, accredited to apply this mark. These rules apply only to the calibration mark, which is applied by the calibration specialist, then by the calibrator to the measuring device or technical documentation. Also, this mark, if necessary, can be applied to additional units and measuring devices.
Stamp Notes
GOST calibration marks or the rules have several points. In one of these paragraphs concerning the information that the brand carries, there are several notes on its content:
- If necessary, the stigma may contain such additional information as the quarter or month of the year when the stigma was placed, that is, when the accreditation of this device was carried out, but the clarity of the print should not be compromised.
- The annihilating mark must be made in the form of a cross, and its application means that the action of the calibration mark is canceled and the device is unsuitable for further operation.
- The mark that is intended to exclude any measuring instrument from the metering control unit may not carry the individual mark of the calibrator, but in this case, it is necessary to apply an additional mark containing this mark.
- The conditional code of the accrediting body should be indicated by two capital letters in the Russian alphabet - AB, AB, etc. If the mark is applied by the metrological service of a legal entity that has the right to affix such a mark, then the cipher should be made in the form of three letters - AAB, AAV, etc.
Production
It is important to start with the fact that the production of calibration marks according to the rules of metrology is carried out by the RSK Research Center, i.e. VNIIMS. It is also important to know that the development of new types of stamps for each type of measuring instrument is based on proposals from accrediting bodies, as well as from the metrological services of legal entities that use these devices.
VNIIMS is also involved in the development of drawings that are applied with a calibration mark. It is important to note that the acquisition or manufacture of calibration marks, each accrediting body or metrological service of a legal entity, is carried out independently. VNIIMS is engaged in assigning an individual code to each accrediting organization or metrological service that intends to use the mark. For this, it is necessary to draw up and submit an application to this organization.
Using
The documentation spells out the rules for using the mark.
- Only a calibrator who has received a certificate can use the calibration mark.
- It is important to note that the application of the calibration mark on any measuring device or document is carried out strictly in accordance with the established rules, which are prescribed in the technical and regulatory documentation for each device.
- Imprinting can be carried out only on the measuring instrument, which after passing the test gave exactly the results that the customer required, that is, the accrediting body or the metrological service of the legal entity.
- One of the important points is that each calibrator has several brands that are assigned to him in a strictly individual order, and the transfer of any of these items is strictly prohibited.
Brand storing
In addition to the above rules, this document also clearly establishes the rules regarding the storage of the mark.
- The first paragraph tells that the storage, as well as accounting of this device in the metrological service should be carried out by one responsible person, the appointment of which is independently carried out by the management of this legal organization.
- Responsibility for the safety of each stamp, as well as for the accuracy of applying each print to any device or equipment, or paper, lies directly with the calibrator.
- One of the important rules is that from each calibration mark, which has an individual sign, put one print. It is necessary to store these prints for as long as the validity period of the hallmark from which it was made.
- In case of violation of any of the rules that are prescribed in this document, all responsible persons will be punished, which is also established by this document.
Verification mark
The verification mark, like the calibration mark, is a mark that is applied to equipment or a measuring instrument, or documentation. The presence of this sign on the device indicates that it has successfully passed verification and can be used in accordance with regulatory and technical documents. Also, this mark is applied as a protection against outside interference in the device with the help of an adjustment device.
The methods for applying this mark are the same as for the calibration one. With the help of this sign you can confirm or cancel the test results of this device. The person who inflicts the stigma-witness must do so in such a way that the mark is in the required place and is also easy to read. As in the case of the calibration mark, each verifier has a number of verification impressions attached to it, which have an individual sign. He is also prohibited from transferring any mark from this list to others. Storage and registration of these signs is carried out by the responsible person selected by the organization’s management. The issuance of the credentials of the witness and its return to the hands of the responsible person must be accompanied by mandatory signatures.
