Internet connection, organization of a local network, setting up an access point

Personal computer users faced the problem of setting up the access point from the moment of development of information technologies until they were connected to a single network. Creating an Internet connection or simply combining several computers into a single system required not only connecting additional devices to the computer, but also some settings.

Often, to make life easier for users, any equipment comes with some software. Establishing a connection consists in correctly connecting the necessary equipment to the PC and completing a number of points that the computer itself offers. But, nevertheless, some features that require configuration of the access point should still be studied.

Modem connection to the World Wide Web has become enormous. Modems are now released as separate devices or integrated into a number of gadgets. In any case, in order to open the curtain of the access point settings, you will need to go to the “Phone and Modem” item through the “Control Panel”, and from there to additional communication parameters. If the settings are correct, the window should open with a record corresponding to the access point that your provider is using.

But progress does not stand still, and Internet connection is becoming commonplace, and the implementation of additional settings is required only when you are in remote areas. Not only in office conditions, but even in an ordinary apartment, the problem of creating a local network (while wireless) often arises.

The simplest way to connect two personal devices directly, although bewitching by accessibility and simplicity, has a number of significant drawbacks. The first is the need to find them within mutual visibility, and if we want to access the Internet from one computer, then the computer that is used as a gateway must be turned on.

This is where various routers and access points come to the rescue. Once configured, these devices play the role of a link between the local network and the World Wide Web. Often, setting up an access point allows you to use these devices in various modes. The simplest is when the device is a "transparent bridge" between two networks - wired and wireless. Also in this mode, it is possible to combine wireless network components. For this type of work, the setting of parameters is practically not required.

The next mode involves the integration into a wireless network of a computer or several personal devices that do not have wireless network controllers. Connecting the access point to the network controller of the computer, it is necessary to communicate with another point, and its name must be entered in the settings. The use of this mode is carried out in cases where it is not possible to install a wireless controller in a PC (as a rule, due to its design or software features). This option often took place when setting up an access point on a laptop.

In the following two modes, the segments of two wired networks are combined through a secure wireless channel. In the first case, two segments are combined, while it is necessary to specify the MAC address for the remote access point, in the second case, more than two segments are combined.

There is an access point mode that allows you to expand the range of your wireless network. If the design features of the client computer due to its technical characteristics or the design features of the room do not allow you to reach the network, then an access point that works as a repeater located between the client and the input can help.

Setting up the Windows 7 access point has some features, this is due to the fact that this platform aims to provide additional protection for your computer from hacking.
