Bogdan Shershun is a famous Ukrainian football player whose peak career occurred in the late 1990s - early 2000s. He made his football name thanks to performances for the Ukrainian Dnipro and Moscow CSKA. He became one of the few Ukrainians to win the European Cup tournament throughout his career.
First steps in football
Shershun Bogdan Nikolaevich was born in the western Ukrainian regional center Khmelnitsky on May 14, 1981. The childhood of the future star passed usually: kindergarten, then school. Of course, the guy spent a lot of time on the street in the company of peers. At that time, the guys much more often spent their leisure time in the fresh air, because, fortunately, there were no mobile phones, the Internet, and computer games. In the courtyards they constantly played football. Representatives of local football clubs often came to such games. They pursued a prosaic goal: the most talented children had to be invited to the Sports School for more detailed training in the basics of this game. That is how Bogdan Shershun (football biography - below) got to the school of Khmelnitsky "Podillia". Then he was noticed by scouts of the Dnieper, and he could not refuse such an offer.
Speech for the Dnieper
The transition from Podillia to Dnipro even at the level of youth teams is a significant career success. As you know, the main team from Khmelnitsky never in their history even went up to the first Ukrainian league, but Dnipro almost never dropped out of the TOP-10 of the major league of Ukraine.
Bogdan Shershun made his debut for the main team very early. Of course, he did not set a record for the age of his debut in the Premier League, but still, few of the players conduct fights for the main team at 17.5 years. On October 5, 1997, Dnipro held a home game against Donetsk Metallurg, in which Bogdan Shershun replaced the match at the end of the match.
The playing role of the football player is the defender. In most fights, Bogdan played the role of a central defender. Sometimes he had to close the positions of the flank defenders, but Shershun was not very fond of playing in these positions. His speed data did not give the opportunity to constantly keep pace on the flanks of the fast wings of rivals. Therefore, the position of the central defender was ideal for the athlete.
Bogdan Shershun is a football player who has played twice as part of Dnipro. In the period from 1997 to 2002, the football player spent 100 matches for the main and duplicating (Dnipro-2 and Dnipro-3) teams and scored two goals for the double.
From 2005 to 2010, Shershun held 79 fights and was able to score 4 goals. This player was one of the symbols and pillars of the protection of the Dnepropetrovsk club.
Period in CSKA
From 2002 to 2005, the Ukrainian spent as part of Moscow CSKA. Unambiguously assessing the years spent in Russia is very difficult. It seems that Bogdan Shershun won several serious titles with the club, but at the same time he could not become a full-fledged player in the main team. One thing is for sure: the athlete gained invaluable work experience under the leadership of Valery Gazzayev, who will be useful to him in independent coaching.
In 2003, the pupil of Podillia managed to win the championship of Russia with CSKA. In 2002 and 2005, the army team was able to win the Russian Cup. Well, the main post-Soviet victory for CSKA and one of the two most important football victories for Russian football after the collapse of the USSR happened in May 2005, when in the UEFA Cup final the army team beat PSV 3-1.
For 3 seasons, Bogdan Shershun spent 81 matches as part of his team (according to other sources - 76) and scored 2 goals against opponents. The main reason for the central defender to return to Dnipro is a systematic failure to fall into the main team at the beginning of the 2005/2006 season.
Shershun and other teams
In 2009, the former army soldier loses his place in the main team of the Dnieper, so he gradually began to search for a new place to continue his career. Because I still felt the strength to play at a high level. After some time, a rental option appeared in Kiev Arsenal. In the team of Leonid Kuchuk from 2009 to 2012 (Arsenal bought the contract of Shershun), the player spent 55 fights. Of course, this was already the time of the sunset of an athlete’s career, but Bogdan, after completing the contract with the gunners, continued his search for a new club. Performance in the “Kryvbas” was a pretty promising option and could be longer than one season, but the club of Kryvyi Rih at the end of the 2012/2013 season withdrew from professional competitions. The season 2013/2014, which Bogdan Shershun spent in Lutsk, was the last for him as a player.
