The industry of the Oryol region is mainly represented by six sectors: food, construction, textile, engineering, metallurgy and electrical. The largest manufacturers of Orel and the Oryol region are Gamma, Dormash, Proton-Electroteks, Oryol Steel Rolling Plant, Oreltekmash and others.
Gamma OJSC
Perhaps this textile enterprise is the most famous manufacturer of the Eagle. The joint-stock company is engaged in tailoring of hosiery, occupying a leading position among domestic companies in this segment.
The largest knitwear factory in Russia was founded on 01/01/1934 and was one of the first manufacturers of stockings, socks, tights and other products in the USSR. We bought modern equipment for the enterprise, which was a curiosity for those times:
- steam irons;
- dyeing machines;
- centrifuges;
- overlocks;
- winding machines.
However, the outbreak of war prevented plans for the further development of the factory. The hulls were partially destroyed, and it took time to restore them. However, already in 1944, more than a hundred people worked at Gamma, and the annual plan was exceeded by 300%.
After the war, the factory became one of the leading manufacturers of Orel and the region. In the 50s, the enterprise expanded, its own diesel power plant was built. In the 60s, production was the industry leader; on its basis, a branch of the Ivanteyevsky knitted technical school and technical school named after Rusanov was opened. The best graduates remained working in the factory. By 1989, the modernization of production was completed, production of scarce elastic stockings was launched.
The company was able to survive the crisis of the 90s, and the global economic crisis of 2008-2011. However, it was necessary to sacrifice production volumes for the sake of quality and assortment. Today, over 1000 people work here, and products under the Gamma brand are known throughout Russia.
Dormash
The company produces high-tech products - large-sized construction equipment. The assortment of the Orel manufacturing plant is presented:
- Bulldozers of the B-100, B-120 and B-150 models.
- Loaders RK-27, RK-33 and RK-40.
- Graders of the DZ series.
In recent years, Dormash has become one of the industry leaders, entering the TOP-3 of the largest domestic manufacturers and suppliers of road-building equipment. Among his clients are enterprises in the construction sector, oil and gas companies, road maintenance organizations. A feature of the products is reliability, quality, ease of maintenance and management, affordable price. The plant has its own design bureau, which allows you to quickly respond to market demands and make operational changes according to the wishes of customers.
JSC Proton-Electrotex
This company is the most advanced enterprise in Orel producing electronic components and power electronics:

- resistors;
- voltage limiters;
- coolers;
- modular inverter systems;
- IGBT modules;
- measuring equipment;
- prefabricated modules;
- metal products.
The company was established in 1996. Here, advanced equipment has been installed, allowing to produce reliable and high-quality products that meet current specifications. Components are developed by specialists from the Moscow All-Russian Electrotechnical Institute in collaboration with the research and development department of the manufacturing plant.
Oryol Steel Rolling Plant
A large enterprise was founded in 1967 with the goal of manufacturing hardware products. Today it occupies a significant share in the Russian market in the field of production of steel, metal wire mesh, metal cord ropes. It also produces wire, welding electrodes, a variety of fasteners. The production is equipped with Swiss and German equipment.
PJSC Oreltekmash
One of the oldest manufacturers of Eagle. The plant has been pedigree since 1854, when workshops for the production of running metal products were opened in the provincial city: hammers, brackets, pulpers, horse drives. We were also engaged in iron casting. Before the First World War, the workshops were transformed into the Perelygin Iron Foundry.
In the Soviet period, Tekmash changed its specialization. Here began to produce units for processing bast (wood) fibers. With the beginning of the Second World War, the enterprise was evacuated to the Penza region and instead of bast machines, products were made for the missile forces. In the 70s, the manufacturer of Orel was reoriented to the production of automatic machines for processing wool.
In 2000, Oreltekmash once again changed its line of business. After technical re-equipment in its walls began to produce:
- Mobile maintenance tools for the military and law enforcement agencies.

- Mobile platforms (service, rear, medical).
