HP has decided to enter the laptop market with a new product called ProBook, which is a kind of analogue to the more expensive MacBook from the Apple company. This laptop is already available for purchase, and it is in good demand in the domestic market. The review will examine the model HP ProBook 4515s, the stuffing of which is headed by the processor from AMD. By design, this model can be confused with 4510s, because outwardly they do not differ at all from each other. The price of the option under review is lower due to the lower cost of the processor from AMD.
Design and Features
All HP laptops have always stood out for their rigor, there was nothing superfluous in them, even if it would be useful, everything was aimed at the office style, but now with the release of ProBook this can not be confirmed, because this model differs from the previous ones in a big gloss. The form itself did not begin to change, most likely, the developers do not want to immediately make a big jump. The changes affected the glossy finish, which had never before been on HP laptops. Now it is impossible to fully state that these devices will look organically only in the office. Usually the covers are made opaque, but this time they decided to use black gloss over the entire surface, including the side with the screen. To further improve the design, gloss inserts were added to the keyboard substrate, and a border was also used for a more pleasant appearance. But this also has its drawbacks, because you have to pay for beauty. This time, the surface was soiled over: the touch will leave a bright imprint, even if the hands are clean. This limits the use of the device.
Notebook HP ProBook 4515s can only be used at home, because to come to a business meeting with a brand-name computer is not the best idea. What unpleasantly surprised was the thickness of the lid, which amounted to a whole centimeter, although with the technology used to create the matrix, HP had the opportunity to significantly reduce this figure. What was the reason for just such a decision is not clear, except to give higher rigidity. This large cover rests on small mounts that do an excellent job, although at first glance it might seem that they are small. Above the screen, the camera is located only two megapixels. As in any modern laptop, there are speakers that are hidden behind the panel above the keyboard, there are two buttons with a pleasant backlight that will not cut your eyes in the dark. The smaller one calls up the HP data center, and the larger one is responsible for turning the laptop on and off. In order not to make a garland of the HP ProBook 4515s, the developers decided not to add all the possible indicators, and those that are needed are located away from the eyes. For example, the state of the hard drive was left at the front end. We also added an interesting location for the CapsLock indicator, which is located directly on the key responsible for this function.
It was decided to make the HP ProBook 4515s monolithic, just like the MacBook, but with one very important condition: you can still open the cover. Because of the solidity, there are concerns about the temperature inside: will it not be too high? But HP developers did their best, and everything is much better than it seems at first glance.
Input device
The keyboard was made perfect for a laptop. All buttons are divided. The bottom row is higher than the rest, which makes the keyboard incredibly comfortable. But without emphasis on office work, it could not do here. There are buttons on the keyboard that are responsible for the quick launch of the browser, sending a document for printing, etc. But as for the touch panel, no special remarks can be made, everything is as standard as possible, it works at the proper level.
HP ProBook 4515s: display specifications
The resolution is 1366 × 768 pixels, the diagonal is 15.6 inches. A very useful decision was made about glossy and matte screens, there are models with both types of coatings. In all the rest - nothing special.
Noise and temperature
If the laptop is not loaded, it works quietly and does not bother anyone, but if you force it to give all its best, then the sound from the cooler will be very loud. But it’s impossible to say badly about heating, the cooling system copes with solid “good”, the maximum temperature of the exhaust air was 43 degrees. This result can be attributed to the pluses of the HP ProBook 4515s. Battery no complaints. In working condition, with the brightness set at 50 percent, the laptop could last an hour and two minutes, but during the reading mode, the time increased more than twice.
Conclusion
The HP ProBook 4515s is still an office device for working with documents, because a weak processor will not allow you to do much. But this is also a plus - because of its narrow focus, its cost is extremely low.
