Pavel Vasiliev was born in Kazakhstan, in the city with the beautiful name Zaysan. The poet’s birthday was a windy day on December 25, 1910. Pavel’s parents are the most average-income people. My father taught mathematics. The love of literature instilled in the poet his mother. However, the grandfather and grandmother also played an important role in the formation of the personality of the grandson. Pavel Vasiliev with pleasure every evening listened to their stories. Such an interest in cognition contributed to the fact that at the age of 10 he became interested in poetry and tried to write himself.

It was not only the poet’s financial condition that was difficult. He experienced a real literary crisis, because during these years not a single work of his was published. In 1929, recognition came. Pavel Vasilyev began to print many magazines in the capital. Suddenly, the need for a large amount of material increased, so Vasiliev writes diligently and a lot. The result of painstaking work by the end of 1930 was the poem "Song of the Cossack Army". The work turned out to be very voluminous, therefore newspaper editions printed only certain fragments. The whole poem was published only in 1932 by the New World magazine.

Publications brought fame to the author. At the peak of his youth, Pavel Vasiliev became popular. The poet’s biography is overshadowed by political events of that time. In 1932, Pavel, along with fellow poets, was arrested for several months. They were accused of participating in the banned literary group Sibiryaki. The participants in this meeting were considered counter-revolutionaries. Pavel Vasiliev’s cellmates were: Eugene Zabelin, Leonid Martynov, Sergey Markov. Paul's friends were sentenced to three years, and the city of Arkhangelsk became their place of exile. Paul received a suspended sentence.

1935 was the most fruitful year in the life of Vasiliev Pavel Nikolaevich. The poet’s biography is full of dramatic events. Among them there was a place for the betrayal of friends. The success of the poet provoked hatred and envy. Many of the poet’s “friends” wrote letters to the editor with a request not to print Vasiliev, citing various implausible arguments. Editions ceased to cooperate with him. The result of such a tense situation was a fight initiated by the Komsomolskaya Pravda editorial staff. Pavel Vasiliev was arrested and imprisoned for a year. In 1936 he was released. However, foreseeing that this was not for long, Paul wrote one of his best poems - “Farewell to friends”. This work carries all the pain of the soul and regret that he will not be able to see the people dear to him.

In 1937, Pavel Vasiliev was arrested by the NKVD. This time, the reason for the detention was the suspicion of organizing a terrorist act directed against Stalin. Moreover, Pavel Vasiliev was assigned the role of performer. Lefortovo prison became the place of the last refuge of the poet . After interrogations, his beautiful signature became worse and worse, the letters lost legibility, and in the end turned into one solid line. Exhausted by the most cruel torture, with a broken spine, almost blind, he was taken to the courtroom. The verdict was announced on July 15, 1937. Pavel Vasiliev was only 27 years old when he was declared an enemy of the people and sentenced to death. The meeting lasted no more than 20 minutes, after which the sentence was carried out.

The young and talented poet had many trials. Unfortunately, he did not even have his own grave. For a long time the burial place of the poet was unknown. Only in the 80s it was possible to restore the picture of the events of that time and to find the last refuge of the poet. It was a mass grave No. 1 of the Don cemetery with unclaimed ashes. The 30s were the most difficult for the whole country. Every famous writer was repressed. Pavel Vasiliev was no exception - the biography is short, because the life path was only 27 years long.
