Optical-mechanical plant "Jupiter", Valdai: history, production, products

Optical-mechanical plant "Jupiter" belongs to the class of large manufacturers of optical products: night-vision devices, observation devices, optoelectronic aiming systems. The pride of the enterprise is the sighting and observation day-night complex for the RRC Ratnik.

Optical-mechanical factory Jupiter

Soviet era

The Jupiter factory was designed as a special enterprise for the manufacture of Helios photographic lenses for Zenit SLR cameras with an annual design capacity of 1.2 million lenses. The scenic Valdai Territory is chosen as the place of construction.

The date of foundation of the plant is considered November 15, 1967. Initially, the facilities were located in the rebuilt agricultural college of the city of Valdai (Novgorod region). In 1969, the construction of the main buildings began. The first products were GK-44-2 lenses.

In the 70s, intensive development of production was carried out, housing was built for workers. The range of lenses included four families: Cyclops, Helios, Mir, Jupiter. By 1992, the Jupiter plant had become a large industrial enterprise with more than 2,700 employees.

In market conditions

In 1999, the plant was acquired by the Lank Holding. In the same year, the development of night vision devices began with the help of our own design bureau. In 1999 and 2000, the enterprise was reconstructed, production was prepared for large-scale production of developed products.

In 2001, thanks to a strategic partnership with an American company engaged in product promotion, the Jupiter plant took a leading position in the global market for the supply of night-vision devices. In 2006, the output of products reached 76,000 pieces per year. 100% of the products were exported (mainly the USA, Japan, European countries).

In 2006, the production of automotive components was also mastered: a total of 10.7 million
products were delivered to the world's largest manufacturer of auto parts TRV
Automotive from 2006 to 2009. Since the end of 2007, due to changes in the situation in foreign markets and an increase in the ruble exchange rate, the plant began to reorient production to output for domestic use: law enforcement agencies, the Ministry of Emergencies, and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. In 2008-2010, a line of modern optical devices was developed, successfully tested and prepared for industrial production, which surpasses in its parameters not only domestic, but also a number of foreign analogues.

Characteristic

The territory of the Jupiter plant is 15.8 hectares. The total area of buildings exceeds 56100 m 2 , of which the production area is 31385 m 2 . The machine park has 1,100 pieces of equipment.

Today, the plant remains among the flagships of the optical industry. Although production volumes have declined relative to the Soviet period, the quality of the products being developed remains consistently high. It is not surprising that many Valdans are wondering how to get to the Jupiter plant to work. Employment issues are managed by the personnel department. The company always welcomes highly qualified and responsible employees.

Products

In 2015, the team won the competition and received an important defense order for the development and supply of a multifunctional sighting and observation system for the Ratnik R&D complex. It allows you to track and carry out aiming in any time and weather conditions, in a wide temperature range, with reduced visibility.

Another unique product is the technologically revolutionary holographic sights of the Valdai series. For their production, it was necessary to master new technological processes for Russia in the manufacture of diffraction and hologram relief-phase elements.

Among other products manufactured at the Jupiter plant:

  • Tools, accessories and accessories.
  • Collimator sights of the 1P87, PK120, PK130 series.
  • Sights holographic Valdai series.
  • Sighting systems: 1PN137, DNPK Valdai.
  • Sights NV NP110.
  • Spotting scopes: 310, 410.
  • Monoculars HB: 1PN138, MN120, MN230.
  • Binoculars HB.
  • HB nozzles: 110, 210.
  • Thermal imaging nozzles: NT321, NT631.
  • Special purpose devices.
  • Lenses for NVD.
  • Optical elements.

Prospects

In the past, the factory was the largest manufacturer of Helios lenses for Zenit cameras. The production of turnstiles for metro and railway stations, payment terminals was mastered. There is experience in delivering products to a leading manufacturer of auto parts TRW (up to 600,000 parts per month). In particular, reverse thrust components.

In the near future, the main activity of OMZ “Jupiter” will remain the production of a day-night sighting complex (DNPC), developed by the plant and successfully tested optoelectronic reconnaissance and aiming devices. The plant will also focus on the production of collimator sights of the Krechet series, the revenue from the sale of which, according to plans, will be about 50% of the total revenue of the enterprise. Monoculars of the Lun series will provide 30% of the total revenue of the plant. The rest of the products will be various accessories for the DNPK complex, night vision devices and other products.
