Not what it seems
As it turns out in practice, MKV is not a format, but just a container. Many confuse these concepts. A format is a converted video stream with its own codec and bit rate, while a container is a collection of packed audio, video, subtitles, and so on. That is, it is a constructor. But if you’re used to your player and want to see the “matroskin” file on it, then you just need to install a separate codec package into the system: both on the audio component and on the video.
