Needless to say, protecting your system with an anti-virus package is one of the priority tasks for any user. Many people choose Kaspersky Lab products for installation. However, even the free Kaspersky Anti-Virus, which appeared relatively recently (before that, all products were paid or shareware), does not want to install correctly in the system, giving an error message with the number 1719.
What does the error when installing Kaspersky 1719 mean?
Before deciding to fix a problem, consider the nature of the failure itself. Here you need to clearly understand that the same free "Kaspersky" has absolutely nothing to do with it. Error 1719 may also appear during the installation of other software products.
Actually, the error during the installation of Kaspersky 1719 (or any other software) is connected exclusively with the incorrect operation of the Windows installer or even with the absence of the “Installation Wizard” in the system as such. Based on this, we can offer two simple solutions, the implementation of which will take only a few minutes.
Verify Msiexec Service Registration
Suppose a user has error 1719 when installing Kaspersky (take Windows 10 as an example). A special service is responsible for installing any software product in the system in the form of the msiexec.exe executable file, the presence of which in the System32 directory of the Windows main directory must be checked first.
You can use the visual method by entering the file name in the Start menu search field, and then right-clicking on it in the properties menu on the General tab to check the location. This method is useful if the specified file is located in another place (this can also be).
Now you need to check whether this location matches the parameters registered in the system registry. We call the editor with the regedit command from the Run console and use the HKLM branch. In it, you need to go down the directory tree through SYSTEM, then CurrentControlSet, and then Services. There is a subfolder msiserver. On the right side we find the ImagePath key and double-click to call the parameter editing window. The value in the location field of the search file must match what was shown in its properties. If there is a different value there, you just need to change it to the correct one.
After that, you should reboot the system in safe mode, run the command line with administrator rights, where to register the msiexec / regserver command. Now it remains just to restart the system in normal mode. The error should disappear.
“Kaspersky”: error 1719 (the “Installation Wizard” service is unavailable). Reinstalling a component
The above method is only a means of re-registering the installation service module. But even after that, an error installing Kaspersky 1719 may appear again. In this case, the installation service will have to be reinstalled. No tools other than the command line are required.
Again, run it on behalf of the Administrator, after which we sequentially enter the following lines with the enter key after each of them:
- attrib -r -s -h C: \ Windows \ system32 \ dllcache;
- ren msi.dll msi.old;
- ren msiexec.exe msiexec.old;
- ren msihnd.dll msihnd.old;
- exit.
Next, as in the previous case, we restart the computer in normal mode. An error installing Kaspersky 1719 (or any other software products) will no longer appear.
As for the mechanism of action of these commands, everything is simple: the existing service files are renamed as if in the old version, and after restart the system installs the necessary components on its own (note, renaming the file in the "Explorer" in the usual way will not work even if you have administrator privileges).
Conclusion
As can be seen from the foregoing, fixing the failure with the number 1719 is a fairly simple process. The only thing to keep in mind is the launch of the toolkit with Administrator rights (otherwise, the system will simply not make changes, respectively, and the effect will be zero).
It remains to add that these are two fundamental solutions to eliminate such an error. Unfortunately, there are no other options today, of course, except for a complete reinstallation of the system. You can try to copy the original file from the installation disk, but if one is not available, these methods guarantee that the failure is completely eliminated.
