The end of the twentieth century is full of events of different categories, both good and bad. The first is news, which pleased a large percentage of people. The international sports organization has recognized: boxing is a female type of martial arts, along with a male one. Not everything worked out right away, but gradually the fights, held to begin with on a semi-regular basis, were officially included in the program list of the Olympic Games.
History of occurrence
For the first time, scientists are faced with the mention of boxing athletes in documents relating to the beginning of the 18th century. Eyewitnesses of that time admitted that the fights were distinguished by a special degree of cruelty. Two hundred years passed before the fights between the boxers gained recognition and began to be held relatively regularly, but only towards the end of the last century boxing, a female kind of martial arts, began to win the hearts of ladies.
First official tournament
The first major boxing competitions took place in the late 80s of the 20th century. After six years from this event, this type of martial arts began to be considered an official sport, after which a women's boxing federation was formed in Russia.
In the late 90s of the 20th century. Athens hosted the first large-scale women's boxing tournament. Each participating country was required to have a team whose composition was to consist of no more than 5 athletes. By the way, a men's tournament was held in Ryazan, in the framework of which the selection of boxers took place.
Only six girls dared to enter the ring, and then the coaches of the Russian team faced an obstacle, because it was not serious to form a team of these athletes. Female kickboxing coaches came to the rescue, assuring their colleagues that in this type of martial arts there are worthy boxers who can represent Russia in the Athenian tournament. No money was allocated for the organization of training events, therefore, everyone was extremely skeptical of this event, in addition, the team looked unreliable, but three Russian athletes won the tournament.
Popularity
The spring of 1996 pleased boxing fans between women with the first duel among the athletes, which took place before the meeting of two celebrities: F. Bruno and M. Tyson. Spectators were surprised by the sight they saw, nevertheless, correspondents noted that boxing, female rather than male, aroused increased sympathy. The days that have passed since the first match had a positive effect on the popularity of women's boxing, the growing interest in this sport contributed to its inclusion in the program list of the Olympic Games. This happened in 2009, but after three years, athletes who attended the women's boxing section, got a chance to compete for the Olympic champion title.
List of weight categories in which athletes compete:
- Up to 51 kg - super light.
- From 52 kg to 60 kg is light.
- From 61 kg to 75 kg - average.
Each new day brings new fans to the treasury of this sport . Unlike men's boxing, where every fight is considered exciting, but cruel, the female form of martial arts is more peaceful. Doctors and sports judges often stop the fight prematurely. Women's boxing for beginners today is available in almost every city, so anyone can sign up for the section.
Women's Boxing Rules
Fights among women for a long time took place on a semi-regular basis, and the public perceived them as unusual, exotic entertainment. But after the recognition of women's boxing as an official sport, a set of rules arose that determined the course of the battle.
The first thing you should pay attention to is clothing for boxing (female). Any athlete who wants to attend boxing training for women should wear a T-shirt, on top of which protectors are attached to protect the chest from strong blows. The body must be protected, since it is he who is the main target for strikes, along with the head, for the protection of which a special helmet has been developed - without it, no athlete will be released into the ring.
The length of the fight starts from six and ends in ten rounds. The victory of one athlete over another is pure, but most often the judges declare technical knockouts. If this does not happen, the winner is chosen by counting the number of productive hits.
Boxing - a female sport - or fitness?
It is widely believed that boxing among women gained popularity due to the efforts of Hollywood stars, who once noticed that training in this type of martial arts brings better results than fitness classes. The exercises performed by athletes during training in sections are very similar to those used in fitness classes, but if you dig deeper, you can understand that boxing trainers borrow only the technique. The main task of athletes is to work out the technique of this type of boxing.
Women's boxing, which quickly gained popularity both among athletes and among fans, has as many similarities as there are differences with the men's martial arts. However, fights between women are characterized by low cruelty, which helped them win the hearts of the public.
An impressive list of works was done by the employees of the women's boxing federation to make it accessible to the public, and even if the society has not completely got rid of the prejudices regarding women involved in this sport, the efforts of the coaches and organizers have not been wasted. Today, a woman rarely encounters misunderstanding on the part of other people, and even less rarely does anyone dare to insult her when she finds out about her addiction to boxing.
